Is alex smith going to improve our pass rush? Otherwise i'm not interested. (unless we can get him in the third, which is doubtful)

denver can get pass rush in free agency or if we can obtain some picks with the trade of rd and pryce. Im not saying draft him in the first round but if we can somehow get him in the late 2nd early third i think he would improve our redzone scoring which if you recall wasnt that great and is in need for vast improvement.

Hey, check out our roster on the broncos website, scroll down to the bottom and check out the 2 tight ends already signed this offseason, between them and jeb we have 3 promising young guys to develop. Besides, other than jeremy shockey, rookie tight ends hardly ever produce.

We've tried that with Luther Ellis and Raylee Johnson and who ever we got from FA... but our DE is in serious trouble...Pryce is as good as gone, and we're losing our best pass rusher from 04 in Hayward...

I'd like to see us get a TE in the draft, but not at the expense of the D-line. I'm not sold on Jeb either, but I would only take a TE in FA or the draft if the guy was an elite TE or could make a difference right away in our passing game.

Patrick Hape UFA Broncos
Mike Leach UFA Broncos
Jeb Putzier UFA Broncos
All free agents we could save money by drafting a young rookie

Arent' those three restricted? Maybe just jeb is. Either way, we need to resign all 3, i'm not gonna lie to you.

We have a guy on our roster now named Mike Pinkard, that could be a HUGE breakout for us. He was phenomenal at ASU, and he's got good speed as well. Reminds me of Randy McMichael a bit.

Alex Smith had a bad combine.

If Alex Smith had a bad combine, we can get him later.
I like Jeb but would like to see more before I convert.

I think we need DL and OL in the first and second rounds. Since this is a good year for both, it makes sense to draft those in the first three rounds (sub 3 round pick for comp pick) until the good ones are gone. This in not a good year for WR so drop that cause, but you will see two picks go to RBs since this is a good year for them. Clarett on our last and final pick. It is worth it to see what the guy rally does have. He is a risk but could turn out to be big in the NFL and it seems he is trying. I would not pick him up any earlier. You cant pass up the opportunity to draft a first round prospect who had probs if you get him with your last pick.

Jeb Putzier UFA Broncos

Patrick Hape UFA
Mike Leach UFA
Jeb Putzier RFA

Leach will be back because he is 1st and foremost our Long Snapper and he has been as reliable as they come since he's been here.

Putzier will be back, even though he got a low tender. I don't think management is going to let him go.

I've heard that the team is looking into bringing back Hape as an H-Back, red zone specialist.

All three will be relatively unexpensive unless another team offers Jeb a deal that we have to match.

I like both of those TE's on our Reserve/Future list as well. I think Pinkard and Willis could both be good back-ups.

I strongly believe that management is going to bring in a veteran TE for competition, like last year, rather than using a draft pick on a TE. I think the coaches have big hopes for Putzier and I think they want to give him another year before they draft another TE.

If we do draft Vincent Jackson I think it will be with the intention of him being the big receiver this team is missing.

I like the idea of picking Alex Smith because something about jeb makes me nervous.

I'm confused as to how drafting a rookie would be better than going with Putzier this year.

A rookie would have a big learning curve trying to get down the Offense.

Putzier will have a big season, and you can quote me on it this time next year.

He just finished his 1st season of real playing time and he showed that he has the talent to make some noise.

He has a new position coach and I think that he will be willing and eager to learn from a man that just got a TE to the Pro Bowl.

Jeb had a few drops last year and he stills needs to work on blocking and postioning on routes, but he has the tools to be one of the top TE's in the league. He has great hands for a big man(use to play WR) and he can stretch the field with his deceptive quickness. Once he learns how to make himself bigger by getting better positioning on who's covering him he will be a dangerous receiving threat for Jake.
