Top 4?

My top 4 would be:

1. Shannon Sharpe (naturally)
2. Tony Gonzales
3. Jay Novacek
4. Kellen Winslow (was he a TE?)

that depends on which type of tight end you want to be . . .

there is surgery that can make you into one of them, but that doesn't really count

or, if you want to be the other kind and you happen to be a great athlete you could try to pull a mike anderson and just decide to become an nfl athlete one day

I already had that surgery and it didn't help my NFL career! My tight end days ended in High School!

in my opinion it is:

1st. Randy Moss
2nd. Tony Gonzalez
3rd. Oronde Gasden (before gettting hurt he was the $hit)
4th.Chris Chambers

These 4 are my best.:o

Randy Moss is a receiver NOT a Tight End...Gadsden?? LOL

Here is the ALL-TIME list IN ORDER

1. Shannon Sharpe
2. Tony G (might pass Sharpe)
3. Kellen Winslow (blocking was a tad weak tho)
4. Mackey? Maybe Ditka. Novachek was great too.

My picks for best Tight Ends:

Shannon Sharpe(Durable)
Dave Casper(seemed to always get it done)
Kellen Winslow(can't get the Miami game outta my mind)
Russ Francis
I know it was suppose to be 4 but Can't remember his name from New England-years ago!!! He seemed dependable!!

Sorry for not mentioning the new guys..I like the old timers..
The position is changed so much today than yesterday...
Remember the TE postion was rarely used like it is today..
So stats might not be a good judgement..Look at all aspects..dropped balls..blocking..TD'S..longevitity/injuries and no steriods!!!or pot..just kidding..It's just being exposed more today..

These 4 are my best.:o yes i quoting myself i'll rather correct myself before someone else do randy moss and chris chambers and oronde gasden isn't tight ends but i think they will do better at this position than at wide reciever. In my opinion. that's why i put them in this category. i know the question asked for TE but i beg to differ.

Shannon has a very nice tight end :D

In fact there aint nothin on Shannon that aint tight (too bad he doesnt have Sterlings good looks though)

Tony, he aint too bad but he's a Chief, so I would never defile myself in that way, the only thing worse would be a Raider :D

As far as the chickies go..............http://216.58.161.130/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3518

He should probably return punts too...that guy has some wheels.

I'd love to see Martina return kicks. Under the pads he's probably a ripped 105.

He's probably real shifty like Dante.

Man you could run all day with those two bookends. And I can see them both makin the big catch across the middle no prob.

Mackey for sure. I saw him carry four people done the feild and break tackles consistantly.

Jeremy Shockey will rise up as the same proto-type.

Speaking of giants reminded me of another good TE. Maybe Shockey should study some film of Mark Bavarro.

Remember HF shokey's a young stallion in the big city, he will either flame out or go on to be dominant. I hope for his sake it is the latter, but he needs some guidance.

I bet Shockey is out of the league in 5 years, actually no, I garuntee it.

What's the basis for thqat large guarantee?
And I'll take that bet.

just ask Shannon. Give Boller another year and a threat at WR, and Heap won't be double covered every down. Shockey can drop an uncontested TD like no one I've seen this year. He has talent like Heap, but whereas Heap seems to look up to Shannon, Shockey seems to look up to Keyshawn.
