Broncos | Linemen Involved in Minor Skirmish
Fri, 5 Aug 2005 21:30:03 -0700

Andrew Mason, of DenverBroncos.com, reports Denver Broncos DE Ebenezer Ekuban and OG Erik Pears engaged in a brief shoving match Friday morning, Aug. 5, but it did not escalate into anything beyond the two first-year Broncos. "It's a violent game and it's probably the first (exchange to) even (be called a) skirmish," head coach Mike Shanahan said. "I can't call it a fight; it wasn't a fight, because one guy wouldn't even allow himself to get into the fight. But you lose your poise in practice, you lose it during the games. You've got to keep your composure, and the teams that do fight usually fight during the season and a lot of times it will cost the team a game."

This stuff happens all the time during training camp. I would be more concerned if the linemen never got into it.

Just as long as our guys keep their cool in games, it's totally normal. I'd hate to see our guys get penalties because of their tempers. Think of the team and the game first.

When you are beating up on each other for 8+ hours a day, tempers will flare. It's good to see some fight and energy in EE, means he came here to take care of business!

It shows intensity. I got in plenty of shoving matches in practice when i played. Did a lot of laps for it. But hey the guys that you get into it with are usually on the other side of the ball anyways. anyone going to camp on monday?
