Who do you guys think are the top 5? My #1 vote is all Ladanian Tomlinson. This kid not only has skill, but still busts it out considering he is on the chargers, with such a terrible o-line. #2 Would be ahman Green, although he fumbles alot, he is a machine. #3 Clinton Portis-Solid Running-back. #4 Stephan Davis- He's the panthers offense, other teams stack the box and yet he still manages to get it down. (He didnt this past sunday) #5 Priest holmes-Although he is leading the NFL in overall TD'S, he has such a great O-Line that it is less ability.

1-LT
2-Ahman Green
3-CP
4-Stephan Davis
5- Priest Holmes

I like this thread...my top 5 would be:

1. Marshall Faulk
2. Priest Holmes
3. Jamal Lewis
4. Clinton Portis
5. LT

Ahman Green is not in my top 5 because he fumbles too much and Shawn Alexander is my number 6.

There are lots of great looking running backs in the league, most have already been mentioned. Anyone of them can be argued that they are better than others on grass, bad conditions, speed, size, on and on.

But I feel like the biggest difference maker in running backs is recieving. It is AWESOME! having a back that can consistently catch a ball. It gives another dimension to an offense, and it spreads a D thinner because they have to cover short, middle, and long consistently throughout the whole play.

Priest Holmes would still be on the top 5 if he had just average recieving yards. His ability to make an impact in a game puts him above other backs.

I'm a fan of Priest Holmes. Although I do not like the Cheifs, you have to admire Priest. He went from nobody wanting him or respecting him. Coming off an injury, and this year he has done awesome.

My ranks were based on talent not preformance. Which is why LT was my 1st rank.

I would say that he is the best running back, of just raw skill. All other "good" running backs have great o-lines. Chargers just suck ass and LD is putting up impressive stats.

Great O-line can make any running back great.
You guys need to factor how good a teams o-line is to others before comparing the running backs.

if you're factoring in the skill of the team and the offensive line than you have to give it to dillon (despite the injuries this year).....year in and year out he pulls in a 1000 on ****ty teams.....
