Anthems and Protests ---
While we certainly understand the frustration by fans on all sides of the discussion, we have decided to keep the Broncos Country message boards separate from politics. Recent events have brought the NFL to the forefront of political debates, but due to the highly emotional and passionate discussion it tends to involve, we think it’s best to continue to keep politics and this forum separate. Yes, the forum is meant for discussion, but we’d like to keep that discussion to football as much as possible.
With everything going on in our country, it would be nice to keep our complaints and cheers purely related to football here. If you feel passionately, there are plenty of other outlets available to you to express your opinions. We know this isn’t the most popular decision, but we ask that you respect it.
Thank you for understanding.

The population of the U.S. is around 280,000,000 and 80,000,000 own guns? That's over 1 in 4 people that own guns? About 1/3 of the population is not old enough to legally own a gun (isn't 21 the minimum?) so that's about 187 million adults and some of them illegally own guns so now we're approaching 50% of people 21 and older that own guns. Wow.
As to your original stat of gun owners versus doctors, I'm guessing we should run like hell from any gun-owning doctors, right?

I agree... but in this scenario, they are comparing accidental deaths via physicians to accidental deaths via guns. Doubtful there are many "intentional" deaths committed via the physicians, so the stats would be skewed.
Physicians:
a. The number of physicians in the U.S. is 700,000.
b. Accidental deaths caused by Physicians per year are 120,000.
c. Accidental deaths per physician is 0.171.

Now think about this:
Guns:
a. The number of gun owners in the U.S. is 80,000,000.
b. The number of accidental gun deaths per year (all age groups) is 1,500.
c. The number of accidental deaths per gun owner is 0.000188.
Statistically, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners.
Remember, "Guns don't kill people, doctors do.
FACT: NOT EVERYONE HAS A GUN, BUT ALMOST EVERYONE HAS AT LEAST ONE DOCTOR.
Please alert your friends to this alarming threat. We must ban doctors before this gets completely out of hand!!!!!
(Out of concern for the public at large, I withheld the statistics on
lawyers for fear the shock would cause people to panic and seek
medical attention)
