  • Dubai - Soon to be world's best city?

Dubai is INSANE man. There are like 300 developments at one time, with hundreds more on the way. They are creating artificial islands, record breakers, etc etc. Ski resorts in the desert, Marinas in the desert, etc. It's awe-inspiring.

They are developing four artificial island projects, three Palms and one "World."

Palm Jumeirah began construction in June 2001, and parts of it finished construction last year. I believe it is fully done constructing today.

    Nearing completion

    And here it is complete

The world's tallest building is now the Burj Dubai, although it isn't complete yet.

    April 10th 2008

    Simply amazing.

The world's tallest hotel and only 7-star hotel (currently) is the Burj Al Arab. It has a helicopter landing that can be used for tennis. Also has the world's largest atrium.

This pic is huge, didn't embed them cause I didn't want to blow up your screen.

Other developments are another ski resort in addition to Ski Dubai, the world's largest shopping mall, theme parks, etc. Malls in Dubai are amazing.

There are hundreds of massive hotels, rivaling those of Vegas. Most are on the Palm's trunk.

Also planned is the world's first underwater hotel, 66 feet below water.

There's an hour long video on google videos on Dubai, simply amazing.

This can't be good for the environment, but god dam it is amazing.

It's somewhere I am really wanting to visit and will probably do so next year for the new F1 race on the calender. It's supposed to be a spectacular city at night.
"On a given day, a given circumstance, you think you have a limit. And you then go for this limit and you touch this limit, and you think, 'Okay, this is the limit'. And so you touch this limit, something happens and you suddenly can go a little bit further. With your mind power, your determination, your instinct, and the experience as well, you can fly very high."

It will be the #1 tourist stop in the world, no doubt.

There are parts of the "World" for sale. So if you are an eccentric millionaire, buy your favorite country (if it is not purchased already)! Israel is not on the map though, political reasons.

The 7 Star hotel is also self acclaimed however, it is an amazing hotel I have heard though.

One of the bad things about the city though is the amount of construction. The traffic is horrendous due to it.

That is an amazing looking city.

I wouldn't mind stopping there someday during one of my future pilgrimages to Mecca.

Yea, Hawaii is going to be nothing compared to Dubai.

The World has been a failure so far though, only 45% of the islands has been sold. I read last night that an island costs anywhere from a couple million to three hundred million... EUROS!

Maybe everyone should pitch in and buy an island to proclaim to be Broncos Island? lol

I think in the future I may move to Dubai + live there for a couple of years
Water in the Palm probably would be stagnant though.

You didn't even show some of the better ones, probably to conserve space, though. Many of the individual buildings themselves are amazing. And you have a city full of them. Add on to that they're making some enormous amusement park, and everything else you can imagine, I don't know that it'll be the best city in the world, depending on what you value. But it'll certainly be the most costly, and most popular. This has all been done in under a decade, I believe. The amount of money going into it all is ridiculous.

I have seen pictures of this area before...no doubt it’s beautiful! However I don’t know how safe I would feel an artificial island. But you have to give credit where credit is due…it looks amazing and they have future artificial island projects on the way! --> CLICK HERE

                  Thx,
                  Joe

The place is a paradise. I saw this A.I. on the travel channel over two years ago & was in awe. It is simply amazing and will be the #1 tourist spot in the world by far.

There were a few things about the place that makes it a vacation hotspot, but not to live permanently, for me at least. It is a very strict Islamic Country. I heard there is a curfew in some areas, either sundown or around 8-9 PM local time, making midnight strolls in that paradise virtually impossible. And their drug policy is ultra strict, to the point where if you eat a poppy muffin, you could face jail time as poppy seeds can present opium-like results in urine tests. And Dubai's government is not top notch. But still, I want to go there just to see it live.

I know a guy who lives there and is going to open up a gym, he says it's pretty nice except for the heat and construction.

Well at $4 a gallon of gas, you'll know where your money is going at least...

The US has relatively cheap gas actually.
