The more and more I search out Dubai the more I like it. I actually wouldn't even mind living there someday. I'm not so much concerned about some of the laws there on the Islamic side of it, those I can deal with no problem. The only thing I worry about is actually being able to afford to live in such a nice place, hahaha.

Yea, cost of living is the big thing, but it's probably worth it.

So Duabi island thing is an island built by man? not built on any solid part of land?

How does it float? or stay in place?

actually dubai is building those islands, dubai is actually somewhere on real land but they build these artificial islands. i watched a history channel show on it MM i think and it was a crazy amount of work

the whole perimeter of the island is just solid rocks stacked upon eachother (massive boulders) to break the waters erosions of the actual living area . . . . its probably one of the craziest things ive ever watched

I would hate to be there during a massive quake.

Any other time is just peachy!

Recent pics of Burj Dubai, May 5, 2008

But get this folks - there's a new development in town. The Al Burj is in the development stages right now by Nakheel, a major Dubai developer known for the artificial islands. It would be taller than the Burj Dubai and that radio mast in the middle of nowhere.

228 floors, as opposed to Burj Dubai's 189
1050 meters to tip, as opposed to Burj Dubai's 950 meters

IMO, Burj Dubai is much more stable, built using same concept as Sears Tower. But the tallest tower looks very thin.

The Al Burj is one solid block, and I don't think it will be as stable (but I'm not an architect/engineer). Much more floor space though.

Simply amazing, trying to outdo each other.
