Help Me Out!!

I'm going to the American Idol auditions this Thursday here in Orlando, and I'm wanting some opinions. I'm attaching a song that I recorded on my computer with no music in the background. Please give me your honest opinions on it.

Thank you all very much. Please don't think I put that on here to boast in any way. I just wanted some honest opinions, so keep them coming (even if they're not positive).

I'll definitely let everyone know how the auditions go. Although they are Thursday, you have to go through several steps before even making it to Randy, Simon, and Paula (and I don't think that would be for a few days).

and WOW - very very impressive

LOL but I didnt know how else to say it - maybe you sound like you have "soul" would be a better way to put it -

My only criticism, and everyone needs some - hehehehe - is I think you need to carry some of your notes a little longer - you are to curt with the words - but I dont know jack about singing and havent watched a single episode of AI so....take it with a grain of salt (I will take the lime and shot of tequila )

Funny, I thought the same exact thing when I listened to it this am... Maybe try and work on your breathing a lil

I was thinking about the breathing thing too - see CT these are contructive criticisms so dont get mad ok - we want you to make it and when you do remember me and horsie got you there - LMAO

All of those things can be taught with a good voice coach though and with a studio damn dude you'd rock

Yep, but I think if you make it through a round or two, they'll coach you.. Plus you can learn from the others.. Good Luck!! Ill be pulling for you..

Thank you both very much, I value your opinions. I don't take any of the constructive criticism in a bad manner.

The music I want to make it in is R & B, it's what I've always listened to and sang. There's not too many white people that sing R & B so many of my influences are black. Just the way that genre works I guess. I like having a 'soul' sound in my voice and hopefully that will set me apart from the rest.

Thank you again, and hopefully you'll be seeing me on TV in a few months, but I'll let you know how it goes.

BTW, the whole breathing thing is something I've been working on. I have asthma and that doesn't mix too well with chronic, so I've really slowed down quite a bit with that. Hopefully soon, as painful as it is to say this, I'll quit for good. If I make it out to Hollywood I'm definitely going to quit smoking (but hey, there's always brownies).

How bout those vaporizers...i've heard they're suppose to be much better for the lungs....just a thought...

Update!!

Well unfortunately I didn't even make it past the first cut. I had a cold that definitely put a damper on my performance, but I don't know if I would've made it anyway. There were so many extremely talented people that got cut. I'm very picky when I hear people sing too, and there were many amazing singers.

I'm not down about it though, obviously the Man upstairs has other plans for me.

If anything this just lit a fire under my ass, you better believe I'm going to be pursuing a music career now more than ever. Watch out for me, I may be the next Jon B (if you know who that is), only hopefully my career will last a little longer.
