Ok, so we went to the Golden Arches for a late night snack, and order two Spicy McChickens no lettuce, no Mayo and a Medium fries. When he got home the fries where ice cold and the sandwhiches had lettuce, mayo and the added a slice of Cheese.:brick: We took them back, thankfully the replaced the order, but did little more then that to sastify their screw up. I've worked in the food industry for a long time, and I know when you screw up like that you give a little more to the customer, if only to pay them off and get them to come back.

HOW HARD IS BURGERS AND FRIES!!!!!!! It's not like it was durring a lunch rush.

The thing that got me even madder is the said "Oh someone else must have gotten the wrong order". When NO ONE WAS BEHIND US IN LINE, and form to also order two spicy McChickens with a Med fry, but the only differnce was the TOPPINGS. Don't lie to me. Just say "Sorry, we screwed up. Let me make it right."

i thought you got spicy mcchickens and not a burger... lol

but seriously, its not hard. I should know. I work in a local burger/ice cream joint and we grill the burgers and what not on a flat iron grill and its not hard at all, sure you do get burnt, but we chose quality. Not one microwave is on site.

but you got to remember, most of the people who work at mcd, not all, but most arent the sharpest tool in the shed. seriously, one time, a guy in front of us ordered some sandwich of some kind and an iced tea, and the order taker asked "Do you want ice in your iced tea?" no joke

i am sorry, i just dont respect McDonalds or Burger King at all. They take the easy way out. Lets microwave a PoS piece of meat for 30 seconds and say its a Hamburger. its not a hamburger. Hamburgers need to be grilled. NOT microwaved.

And everything is pretty much automated, no thinking involved. Their cash registers also encourage stupidity. It tells you how many cents to give back, and some even tell you what coins to give back. Where i work, everything is done manually. Our cash registers just gives us the total of the order. We have to do all the math to determine how much change is given back. That is pounded into our head since day 1. I am just waiting for the day for those automated coin dispensers to show up on those dirty counters of theirs. Those also make me mad. I mean, how can you NOT COUNT CHANGE. Its so simple.

and in the local McDonalds, when i go in, there is about 5-6 14 or 15 year olds working the counters, who can not take orders without you having to repeat it like 4 or 5 times. Then you got people in the back who cant speak english making the orders. I know I am only 18 and I dont know a lot about running a buisness, BUT I dont believe that you could really sucessful with that buisness model. but thats just me.

I agree. It is funny to see them pause for 10-15 seconds to punch a button they punch SEVERAL times a day. I briefly work at Good Times a few years back. while the hamburgers where cooked on a flat top grill, they then where put in to warming trays, for tens of minutes. (PUKE)

seriously, its not hard at all. For me, counting change has become second nature. And its good that you paid attention. A lot of people dont, and they lose money because of it.

Oh, and when we give back our change, we count it out, like in the old days. We are kinda old fashioned. And people like us because of that.

those warming trays are the devil too. Our burgers are cooked on a flat top cast iron grill, but we make them to order, we only cook them when we get an order. Same with fries. What we do is we fry them for 3 minutes to unfreeze them, then when we get an order, we put them down for about one more minute to reheat them up. They are ALWAYS hot when we give them to the customer. none of that frying them for 3 minutes then putting them under a heat lamp for two hours. When you think of it, its quite disgusting.

Yeah when I worked at Wal-Mart as a cashier for two years I always counted the change back to customer.

thats the way it should be done, it allows you to assure the customer that they are getting their money, and it allows you to double check yourself.

When I used to wait tables we had to make our own change. If you gave the wrong amount and you gave too much, it would come out of your tips. If you gave too little, the customer would get the Manager and you would have to give the right change. Then you would get a small tip. You have to learn VERY FAST how to give the RIGHT amount.

first of all... Spicy McChickens are wonderful... but only WITH the lettuce and mayo (and the cheese is great too) I would've eaten both for you.

                          BUT that's not the point.

I can't stand the service at McD's... although that's the only thing I get there (McChicken) and their fries are still one of the best in my book...

but I've had so many times where they screw my order up.

I know about forgetting to not put ice in the cup if they ask for no ice because I worked concessions at a theater, and I HATE having ice in my pop... but even I'd forget.

However I get irate if there is ice in my drink because to me it's so simple ... i order three things... i don't make it complicated... in fact it's a Combo Meal... and the only thing they have to think about is "oh yeah he didn't want ice."

and they pretty much ave a button for EVERYTHING... so they don't have to think at all. (that's how it was at the theater. and we dealt with quarter increments so you NEVER even had to do math...).

well, the sad thing is... they ARE extremely successful with that business model. Why? they still don't have to pay much.. and it's not like there are many training hours involved. and they never have to worry about raises because the turnover is ridiculous. but the thing is, if you actually ARE a manager or even a store manager at McD's, they do take pretty good care of you...

on the other topic. i hear you about making change... but i have NO idea how to count change back... you see, i suck really bad at math. i'm an English whiz (and yes i know my punctuation and my capitalization and all that crap is horrible but oh well).

i was grateful for the touchscreens at the theater. it was so easy.. but i found it funny when some of the little high schoolers still struggled i was like: "are you effing kidding me? it TELLS YOU EVERYTHING!!!!"

i've never really even understood the point of "counting change back" i mean they sit there and go: "Okay so there's 5, 10, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19 and .35, .50, makes $20... " WHAT???? that doesn't make sense... i know i gave you a 20... but you only gave me back like 4 dollars and a couple of dimes and pennies... what the hell are you talking about?"

it just seems like a pointless ordeal to me. why not just say: "okay so your change is $4.35... from $20... "

i get that... i know how much the item cost... i know how much i gave them... i don't need you to count to 20 with magic money that isn't there...unless of course you want to give me 20 dollars back...

well, of course it takes time learning it, everything does. but once you learn it, it becomes second nature. Even when I buy something, i count the change that i am receiving in my head. It becomes second nature after awhile. But yeah, it takes awhile to learn how to do it in this age of computers and what not.
