  • Sayings or phrases (or just words) you love!!

First, CPs to Katie for ripping her off and initiating something that is 99% her idea (Sayings or phrases you hate).

But I do take credit for the 1%, as I have written something about this in an article for some other purpose (outside Broncos Country).

So here's my small list of favourites:

-The word “get” as in “understand”. I heard this way back from an old coach, and it stuck with me. I use it whenever I can. Hey, I “get” that. It seems to make me sound intelligent.

-The word “cool” used in a hip way (not as in temperature). I’ve used this gem for decades and it still works. It says more than one word ought to! I love this word. For example, “that’s cool”, or “I’m cool with that”, or simply “cool”.

-“Folks” – this is a gender-smart word, and has a “folksy” feel to it (do you “get” what I just did there?? - folks and folksy!!).

-“At the end of the day” – this summarizes things in a rustic way. This phrase is so earthy. Has a peaceful intuitive feel. Again, makes me feel smarter than I am......okay, please refrain from saying the obvious.

-“Stay the course” – I like using this, as it makes me feel like I’m in control when others have lost grip. It’s not often that I’m in this situation, so I take advantage whenever I can. Plus I like to paddle, so it gives purpose when I am on the water, and would be quite valuable if a storm ever popped up….I think. ("help" may be the operative word in that situation)

Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day; teach a man to fish and he will eat for a lifetime; give a man religion and he will die praying for a fish.

I like when people say 'fo sho' for yes. It just makes me laugh for some reason.

Not sure if you're referring to my initial post, but if so (and only if so), I was meaning that your thread on sayings, phrases, etc. made me think of doing one on the ones we like....it was a pretty standard move, given that many other threads are initiated just because of a similar one beforehand......

Said enough......maybe not even applicable on my part.....sorry if so...I'll move on

                        "Why so serious??"

That's a phrase I like. I say it a lot. My use of the phrase went up exponentially after seeing The Dark Knight.
