Anything you may want to discuss in terms of the dumbest thing you ever did in an airport/airplane? Here's my dumb move:
I was once on a trip with my wife and youngest daughter, and we were constantly running from planes through airports to make it to the next plane in time for takeoff. It was like a track meet. Finally, on the way back home, in the Frankfurt airport, we had realized our wish......we had well over an hour to relax between flights. After being away for 3 weeks and moving quickly almost every day, this was a nice, relaxing way to finish our trip. Except..........
I decided to check out the flight times and go to the boy's room. I only went a short distance, including one small hallway. When I returned, I came to a hallway that was no longer a hallway. It was in fact the entrance to the main airport area from the arriving planes. It was locked up. So I went over to an airport employee, saying I had accidentally walked though and that my wife and daughter were just on the other side.....with my ID of course. They smiled and said I had to go see someone else. So I did. The next person I saw said something like....sorry, you must talk to someone else. This went on for 2 more people in slightly distant locations, and not one of them was interested in my little problem.
By now I was thinking that my wife and daughter must be wondering where I was. I started to panic
. My next stop was at the Air Canada location, with whom we had tickets. I had to wait for what seemed like an eternity to get to the front of the line. I was beginning to sweat profusely
. I was also thinking of bi-passing them, and charging right through security...possibly to end up in jail....who knows maybe they would shot me down like a crazy man. But I was now away from my family for over about 40 minutes, with no light at the end of the tunnel.....
I finally made it to the front of the line, and they said I had one possible solution....to have my family paged. Why didn't anyone mention that before? The man at the paging spot said no problem. He said his friend would find my family right away. I was relieved....until 10-15 more minutes went by and no sign of anyone. We were now getting to the point where we might not make our flight....at least not me. By about the 1 hour mark, my family showed up. We had another long walk/run to get back to security and more lineups, and barely made our flight. Needless to say my wife and daughter were not happy:hammer:. Turns out I had gotten lost while on our trip (it was quite legit, but who cares anymore).....I had no points left.
We made the flight with less than 5 minutes to go. And it took the whole flight over the Atlantic to Montreal to be again allowed to converse.
Be careful with airport hallways......with no signage
.
