  • Can't believe I'm going to have to learn to say the R word without swearing first!

So I've been thinking about buying a new motorcycle for a while and with the economy tanking and it being February I figured this would be a very good time and I wanted something a bit bigger too. I started looking about 3 weeks and had HD on the brain. I wasted the first week looking at them and never saaw anything worth pulling out my wallet for. Nice bikes but they cost too much.

Then I started looking through all the metric bikes I wasn't really excited about anything I saw, at least for the price, until I went through a Yamaha dealership and found this bike:

It's just what I wanted and the 1854cc engine is amazing. It's a really beautiful bike. And then I found out what it's called:

As for the bike, I'm not really into motorcyles like that, but that one looks sweet! I like streetbikes, but would never drive one in my town since people are scary & don't know how to drive.

You can call it your "Bronco," your bike (if you get it) and you can call it whatever you want. Overall the looks and everything, who cares if the bike is called Raider. :go:

    :salute!:

DOnt worry about what it's called. You own it. You control it. You ride it. It is just... well, an "it". Besides... it's not like you're buying a Mitsubishi Raider when you could be getting a Tacoma..... ... enjoy your new bike!

Give it a nice orange paint job. That should do the trick.

For once, I come in peace.....

The Raider is a nice bike...but...I hope you'll look at the Kawasaki Vulcan series before you jump in. I went through this process a few months ago and settled on a "smallish" Vulcan 900. Even at that engine size it's got a bunch of power. The transmission on the Vulcan is the smoothest I've ever run through as well. I know they have a 1600cc for about $10,000 and I beleive they have come out with even bigger motors (1700cc and 2000cc) I think. Kawsaki are water cooled...not sure about the Yamaha in that regard, but if it's air-cooled like HD's are, then that's another thing to worry about.

At least take a look...you might be surprised.

you know you dont even have to say it.... you can just say "I am going to ride my bike" or "I am going to ride my motorcycle" or "I am going to go ride" or "I am going to ride my raid"

I am in Miami and I have the Suzuki BLVD and I just love it. I got rid of my Harley and now I ride the best cruiser there is. And best of all it is ORANGE with Blue stripes.

Had it reading 95 a few times on the freeway (though the speedometer is a little iffy so give or take 5 mph). Never shakes at all. My only complaint at high speeds is the lack of a 6th gear. Keep wanting to shift at speeds past 70, but no 6th gear to go to.
Not like a HD FatBoy I rode recently that scares the hell out of me at anything past 65 because the front end shook so bad. Not sure if it was just that bike or a common problem.

I looked at everything. And the Rader was the only bike that really spoke to me. The Warrior did too but the seat was a little lower than I like. I really was intent on getting a HD when I started but I just didn't see the bang for the (lots of) bucks there.
