I review the monthly data for our weather history, and it is clear to me that this city's winter's are shorter and summer's warmer, based on the average temps. For example, our coldest weather used to settle in by now, and peaked mid to late January, whereas the stats now say that our temps start to reverse (to the warmer) starting mid January, which may not seem like much. But it's about 2 weeks sooner than when I used to look at it, say 10-20 years ago. That's a significant shift.
Same with summer, the hottest average temps in mid summer are higher than ever before in this area.
This is not meant to be a discussion about "change", just a scientific fact, using data for one city.
Truth is, I fear cold winter weather less than when I grew up, because the cold streaks seem to be interrupted by warmer temps more frequently, whereas decades ago the cold could settle for weeks on end.Last edited by CanDB; 12-31-2019, 08:13 AM.
