  • Can't complain, cool nights, warm days, humidity once in a while ***knock on wood.
Nice rains to water everything, then sun/ could take this all year.

I do feel bad for those who need some cooling and rain, hope you get some relief soon.

    • Temperature on weather.com said 112, but, I'm pretty certain they measure that out at the airport. Downtown, definitely was much hotter. Walked home from work, and I pouring sweat. Dog only made it about 5 minutes before he was done with a walk.

I think Ben Tate will be the best back taken in the 2010 draft. (5/3/10)

      • Dry! I think we got rain like 4 or 5 days since June started, most of the grass is brown & i haven't cut it in over 3 weeks & even that was only half the yard, the other half hasn't been cut in probably like 6 or 7 weeks.

        • Update on the heat wave. Today for sure will hit 100 (yesterday it got to 108) and it will be the 33rd day of triple digit weather. Only 10 days left to get the record . It'll probably hit over 105 again today and is supposed to stay this hot all the way till the weekend. I'm going swimming sunday!

          • Well, turning out to be a hot and very dry summer, after a long period of wet weather. We just broke the record for July, for least precipitation. We ended up with 10 millimetres, or just under 0.4 inches (for the whole month)!!!!!!

Ridiculous.......watering every second day.......and this after parts of our province experienced severe flooding this spring/early summer. For those who are aware of the terrible flooding in Minot ND, part of our province was hit with flow from the same river - The Souris. This spring we were worried about the Red River, which has been our bigger fear over the years. It did not cause as much concern as had been anticipated, but the damage to the SW part of the province, and to some of our lake country, has been very painful for our residents.

            Strange times!

            • My friends dad was caught up in that flooding in ND. My friend went up there to help him clean a little and all that but the other night was showing me videos and damn...there was some damage done. That house was torn up and everywhere they walked was about 1 full foot of mud.

I would have loved to get the record of consecutive 100 degree days but that ended on thrusday and the record would have been tied today we only got 39 straight days but at least it finally rained.

                • Hey BM69, can't remember if I touched base when we got here March 1st. We moved from NODAK to Alaska (Eagle River).

Summer was nice and they tell me that snow is about a month in a half away, seeing termination dust (termination of summer) on the high peaks. It was a comfortable summer...I'll let you know how winter goes. It'll be warmer than Minot!

How's Minot doing these days after that terrible flood?

Your summer sounds nice. I'm not sure I could handle living in Alaska during the winter. I'm such a woosie when it comes to cold anymore and here in Utah is bad enough for me.

                      • That storm that blew through Indianapolis last night brought down the Sugarland concert stage killing 5 people and injuring over 40 more. So sad.

That could have been so much worse if the band was actually playing on stage at the time.

Thoughts and prayers go out to the victims of that tragedy.

The house we sold this past Jan had water up to the eaves and it was like that in the whole area where we lived (and according to FEMA the house was800' from a flood zone and 1 out of 10 had flood insurance but this was a rarity as far as flooding goes). A friend of ours sent us a photo of the house and it was gutted out which I assume all the houses are like that, unless deemed lost then they're torn down.

It's a rebuilding phase now but it's to get workers.....lack of housing for workers. Minot was a great place and I was hesitate to leave but Alaska so far has been good. Cost of living is something to get use to though.

Hi, Nomad! Good to see you. Sad about the flooding.

Had a friend who was stationed in Alaska (AF). He loved it there.

We've had maybe about 5 thunderstorms since Saturday. Lying in bed and, BOOM! The whole house shakes.

Yes, Peanut, after being in NODAK for the last 5 1/2 yrs, it's weird to go through a summer without severe weather/thunderstorms. Even when we lived in Graham, Wa before NODAK, we had one or two thunderstorms a summer.

Is cost of living in a alaska very high? I imagine winter fuel price is pretty high.
