  • Maui here I come

Not to brag or rub it in, but my wife and I bought our tickets, reserved our rental car, and got our Condo booked for a 12 day trip to Maui. I am so stoked. Both of us got new jobs in the last year and we got a lot more back on our tax return than we expected so we decided to use it on a vacation.

$2000 for round-trip airfare and car rental for us and the lil ones is not bad. And we got the Condo for $72 a night which is a steal. If any of you ever want to go to Hawaii I recommend you rent a condo, they come with fully stocked kitchens and you save a ton of money on food. Anyway, I just wanted to share the good news with my internet friends.

I wanted to do that trip when we were there for our honeymoon but we ran out of time. Do you think that trip would be okay for a 3 and 5 year old?

I've been to the Big Island too. It's awesome, but nothing beats Maui

I just might not come back. My wife and I have always dreamed of living there, but it is so expensive.

I love Maui. Wifey and I were just talking about going back over there. Our friend lives in Kaanapali.

Be sure to hit Front Street in Lahaina. I have some pics from Maui somewhere around these boards. They might be in the LR.

So when do you leave and what resort are you staying at? We did an Expedia research and for $1700 we could do the resort, car and airfare for 8 days.

            God I'm so jealous.

Were staying at a Condo. I think it's called Maui Gardens or something. We are leaving the 19th of May.

                whatever dude!!!!!

I'm happy for you man. I have never been to Maui, but my wife and I spent our honeymoon about 200 yards away from Waikiki beach. It was beautiful and I hope to go back some day.

Have a great time and take lots of pictures.

Don't be surprised if you have a suitcase that suddenly weighs 200 lbs more.

                  COngrats chaz, enjoy your trip!

                    Thanks for rubbing it in....

In that regard, I just won $100 million in a lottery, which came the day after I was singled out as "Person of the Year", and two days after being selected as a Nobel Prize candidate. I am currently head of research to prevent all diseases known to mankind by the year 2011. But the most difficult and therefore most satisfying achievement I have accomplished recently was being hired as Chief Consultant for the Detroit Lions, whose mandate is to win a couple of games this year.....that's too much to ask imo!!!

There....take that on your trip and smoke it if you like!!

Have a fantastic trip with your "gang"........happy for you!

(by the way, please refrain from using my backyard in your pics!!)

Yeah I think it would be fine, maybe a bit boring though. It depends on the kids I guess. We took a ferri and then we rented a car from the Maui airport. This van comes to pick you up from the dock and takes you there....then you meet it back at the airport and it takes you back to the dock to go home. It came with our trip package we got, so I don't know how much it would cost.

I thought Molokai was really fun, but I could see it being boring for some people, it is VERY different from the other islands (well I've only been to Oahu and Maui). The locals there are really nice, but full of the famed Hawaiin stink eye if you act like an idiot. There was this beach on Molokai that was the MOST incredible beach I have EVER EVER seen. And it was so clear, nearly deserted. But the sky was so blue and clear we could see Oahu in the distance which was cool. We didn't swim or anything though because there isn't really anywhere to shower or rinse off.

We also took a really short hike, would be fine for the young ones, to see over the part of the island that was the leper colony, really interesting and really freaky at the same time! Along the same hike we went to something known as "phallic rock" I think you get what that is about. It was funny as hell though and I took pictures of it if you wanna see haha.

Anyway...the ferry trip is like 45 minutes long...and I got sea sick on the way back which was terrible, but the water was REALLY rough. But when we got back to the dock we saw an Elvis impersonator and I felt way better! Oh and the ferri dock is in Lahaina, I dunno if that matters much, I'm sure there are more but the one we went on was there.

Well....as you can see I am obsessed with my trip to Maui ahaha. I like Oahu too but maybe I like Maui a little more. I just wish my mom had gone with me to Maui, that would have been cool.

                      That was long and pointless.

I love it there too!! Have you been to Kimo's? I think that is what it is called. It is kinda pricey but it has REALLY yummy food.

And do you like shave ice? You should go to Lorraine's it is in the middle of nowhere and this lady runs it out of her garage. She then invites you to her back patio and talks your ear off...and gives you chocolate banana bread and a bunch of other stuff like homemade pie. FOR FREE!...Well you pay for the shave ice which are giant.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=skJoJcL4PBk Check out Lorraine. I dunno, I can see how some people may be totally freaked out by her but it was really an enjoyable experience.

(I could talk about Hawaii forever, I should have never clicked this thread lol)

I went to Honolulu and the big Island 2 years ago.
I'm going to Kauai on the 18th of June.

I'll be sure to tell you all how it was.

Oh and when do you leave?
