Sorry MD, they're very common, actually. Their range covers the entire continental US, plus parts of Canada. Pretty much anywhere theres a marsh or body of water, you could expect to see them. Of course, a sometimes you might actually see the "tri-colored" blackbird whose shoulders are similar but have more varied color than the red-winged ones.

I've never seen a red-winged blackbird here in Utah but we used to see them all over Ohio and Kentucky.:usa: *** God Bless Our Military Men And Women*** :usa:
