I've never seen a red-winged blackbird here in Utah but we used to see them all over Ohio and Kentucky.

Of course, a sometimes you might actually see the "tri-colored" blackbird whose shoulders are similar but have more varied color than the red-winged ones.

We get them eating out of our bird feeders all the time here. The females look completely different than the males. They're brown and stripey, not black at all.
When I lived in CA, I thought someone had told me that they were native to CA. It's just odd that I never saw them until last year. That was in Dover, DE. Haven't seen one here. I'll have to look more closely.

I was really glad when the Wings switched from the Orioles to the Twins. The Twins love their farm system and it was been a boost to us here. Problem is that you guys take all the good ones late in the year and the Wings start to tank!
It's because we can't pay anyone. We HAVE to bring them up through the farm system... and we can't buy replacements late in the year like the Yanks and Red Sox... *sigh*
