I used to use CCleaner a lot, but now my McAfee suite comes with all that built into it so I am good. But it's free and very essential for those who like to stay up to date on that stuff

VLC player will literally play almost any type of media file. It's amazing.

You should also have K-Lite Media Codec Pack . Has every codec available on Earth, so you can play every type of media file.
