So I would then change my stance about the earlier post to add this is about the only receivable excuse for this type of actions....and thing is is insurance probable does not cover 'terrorist action totaling accident' lol
Yeah but doesn't the FBI replace it though? Like when police commandeer (not sure if I spelled that right) someone's car for a police chase?

      What if:

They later found out your kid was racially profiling and the suspected terrorists were just natural born citizens with no ties to any terrorist networks, and you were arrested and sent to prison for letting your kid do this, and your prized BMW is impounded and sold at a police auction 5 years later, your wife divorces you, and your house is now used as a meth lab.

Do you ground him even though he's 20 years old now?

That's a trick question. If you are in prison you can't do anything to him.

If he saved lives, I'd be proud of him.

A car is replacable. Bravery and confidence are qualities I hope my son can develop, and are qualities sorely lacking right now.

That's the thing that gets me the most about the whole Penn State debacle - It would have required a pretty low level of bravery to step up and stop the violence being committed against some of the most vulnerable. And this in an institution that was held up as a model to others.

And I'm just addressing the OP's question, apparently there is a story behind this question I know nothing about.

So if he ruined a car but stopped terrorists from hurting people, I'd be proud. He better be sure that is what is going on though.

If he's living with me, he's dead meat

He's using a BMW? Not worth punishing for, except maybe no video games for a week. Now, if he used one of these, he'd be in some deep doo-doo.

He was grounded to his bedroom, so he clicked on one of his favorite websites, it took him to a chat room, where things were boring but a couple of things didn't make sense until he started reading the newspaper. Then he started investigaing, and for the rest READ THE BOOK! I'm not going to give anything else away & spoil it

We have law enforcement and intelligence agencies who deal with catching terrorists. My son would only be hampering their efforts and endangering the American people by interfering. Not only would I ground him, I'd also smack some sense into him.

Even if the FBI told you how invaluable he was in helping them?

They'll certainly be getting grounded and stern lectures the entire time about right and wrong and a persons responsibilities the entire time while being grounded.... Oh how much fun would that be ...

Being vigilant and aware of how to react and who to notify in case emergency is all the catching of terrorist a minor even in extreme cases needs to do...

This minor is certainly old enough to know the difference and would be more fearful of what would happen by taking my prized BMW wo my permission then of what would happen because they let the terrorist go wo chasing them ...

For catching the terrorists: I'd be proud, and probably throw him some sort of celebration.

For stealing and totalling my car: He'd be making car payments to me until he paid me the equivalent of what the car was worth.

As Havok said earlier: He'd be praised and rewarded for the good things he did, but he'd still be held responsible for the bad things he did.

As others have pointed out, there are government agencies that are specially equipped to handle these situations, and he had other avenues of recourse rather than to take action, himself.
