  • Technical question about router.

I have a Netgear N600 dualband wireless router (I'm connected to it through an Ethernet cable though), but I cannot access the router setup page. I've tried 192.168.1.1, 192.168.0.1, routerlogin.com and routerlogin.net.

Before I try calling support, does anyone have anything else to recommend? I've done factory reset and it doesn't seem to do anything.

That is the router I have. I just used routerlogin.com. I think you have covered the possibilities. I'd say call tech support.

192.168.1.1 usually gets you to the router, where as 192.168.0.1 usually get you to your Modem (e.g. DSL, Cable, or other).

Now quick question is the issue you not getting to the landing page when you go to 192.168.1.1? Or is the issue your password does not work when you enter it?

      Thx,
      Joe

go to your command prompt.... type in...

          tracert www.yahoo.com

The first IP address on the right should be your routers IP address.

            Hey Joe,

the issue is that I'm not getting the login page at all. It says the connection times out because the page takes too long to respond.

Yeah you can follow JakeNbake's instructions or you can also type in the command ipconfig. Make sure your IP address is on same subnet...should be 192.168.1.x (the last octet can be any number from 2-254.

If your IP address is way off then you won't be able to communicate with your router. From the command line you should always be able to ping your router at 192.168.1.1. If your able to ping, and you are already on the same subnet then please try another browser and or try clearing the cache in your browser.

              Thx,
              Joe

Did you reboot? Mine did that a few times too.

I've attached a screenshot that I took after running ipconfig. Doesn't look like the IP is on the same subnet. How do I correct that?

Realized the attachment was way small. Try checking out the screenshot here

I've lost count how many times I've restarted and/or reset the router, haha. This has been a consistent issue since I got it.

This sounds stupid but are you 100% sure you're wired up right? Might have the Modem in a LAN port and it's just working like a switch.

Figured it out. Using Windows 7's Network and Sharing Center, I was able to see the router and from there the management URL. I updated the firmware, changed settings and now everything is in perfect order.

                      Thanks all!

www.routerlogin.net, haha. I don't know why I was unable to access it in either Firefox/IE address bar.

I know... but it works now, at the very least.
