My uncle survived a grizzly bear attack about 30 years ago. He was working for the forest service as a ranger one summer during college and found a bear cub in northern Idaho near the Canadian border.

Momma bear came out when he let the cub out of the cage and chased him around a tree. He jumped up in the tree, upon which the bear bit his foot and pulled him down. This is where the miraculous happens: He landed on his feet, face to face with the bear who was standing on it's hind legs and was approximately 7' tall. The bear then turned around and walked away.

My uncle still has scar from where the tooth pierced his foot.
