  • Rugby League

    Hey guys,

I'm new here and am a massive NFL fan living in England.

I just wanted to ask if any of you guys know of a sport called Rugby League, and if you do, how "popular" it is in America?

It's a "similar" sport to NFL and is great.

i'm familiar with rugby, but it's not very popular here in the states...

You do know there are two types of "rugby"?

Union and League, or is this distinction not recognised?

You guys just played the Number 1 League Nation and nearly beat them, whilst a college kicker has declined a chance to play in the NFL to try to make it as a League player.

No it's not popular here at all. It's played at some colleges.

          We almost beat someone?
          I didn't even realise we had a team. :0

Rugby looks like an awesome sport, I'd love to play sometime...but yeah, it's not to popular round these parts...I didn't even know there were two types of Rugby. Wasn't the movie "Alive" based on a Rugby team?

Good thing they were a rugby team and not a soccer team - not a lot of meat on soccer players!

I'm an avid union fan (Northampton rule(d)...before our coach left last season. The new one lasted 12 weeks before getting fired). I play openside flanker and I enjoy takin down fly halves.

Union's probably better known, the USA Eagles team isn't bad actually. Captained by Dave Hodges (I think) who was going to be a 1st/2nd round MLB. Fancy that?
