In need of some help. For some reason my laptop wont allow me to connect to the internet. The internet is working fine and my laptop shows that I am connected to it. But my web browser keeps saying unable to connect to internet. When i try to update something, it says cant connect to interenet. Any help?

I'm not an expert, but when I've run into the issue you mentioned in your 1st post ... I clear cookies, history, and cashe - then open new browser ... Or reset the Browser. If your connected with the internet and browser not working do you have a second browser to try?

It doesn't sound like it's the browser when none of them work….

Anything I suggest probably is stuff you've already done, but if the internet works on my desktop, but not my laptop I reset the router and then restart my laptop. That would be the only other thing I can think that's worked for me when my internet is working but device isn't recognizing it.

That's what I was thinking. I had to do that recently.

            Check WiFi compatibility?

              Is everything plugged in?
Did you recently re-arrange any furniture?

No. It just randomly happened. One minute I'm on the interwebs, then it stops working and say there is a dns issue. I dont know much about computers.

Wifi is fine... at least the router is. No other device have any issues. Just my laptop. When i run a troubleshoot it just keep saying DNS server not responding.

Hubby says he understands what might be happening. He says it's too involved to try to explain it (note, he's not trying to be snobbish). What he suggests, though, is to call your service provider and they can probably talk you through it. He says something on your laptop needs to get reloaded.

                    Good luck!

Fixed the problem...for now. Who knows if it'll happen again, it has happened before. Windows 8.1 is pretty unstable.

I knew I had to do something in command prompt but it wasn't allowing me. So I had to run command prompt as admin.

Thanks everyone for the help, much appreciated.
