Yah.....I was kinda thinking of the "place" when we were talkin White Castle's.
But I was also thinking. I started this thread with good intentions and thanks to the contributions by fellow members, this thread may end becoming a nice little treasure, for me anyway. I can just come here and be reminded of some great writings/poems. And now I'd like to add a little memory of my own, one that is timely in a sad way, because it has some solid ties with the great Robin Williams. It's "Seize The Day", which is "Carpe Diem" in Latin. It is familiar to many who saw "Dead Poets Society", one of Williams' more serious and wonderful films.
Many years ago, as a gift from my nephew, I received a sculptured desktop piece for my office, with those words inscribed. It was very meaningful to me then, and now. I love the idea.....live each day to the full. Seize life. I hope you folks do. I know, it's not that simple all the time, but at least make the attempt.
So to all........
SEIZE THE DAY

I had to include another one of my favourite poems, and guess who wrote it - Robert Frost. What an amazing poet!
Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening
Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.
My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.
He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound’s the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.
The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.
I love this poem for several reasons, primarily because (and true to the theme of this thread) I always imagined it had to do with meeting a loved one. When I was a young man, I remember going out with a girl who grew some distance away from the city, and sometimes I would meet her there. There was something magical about the ride, knowing it would be worth the time and effort.
I also love this poem because of its portrayal of a winter's night in the woods. Something beautiful about it, at least from one who knows the good side of winter.
So, for me this is another positive reference......knowing that the end of the journey will be worth the ride.

With my tough mudder coming up with my old man I think this poem fits this thread.
The Perfect Father-Karl Fuchs
I love you because you're my father,
But you're really so much more;
You're a guide and a companion;
You and I have great rapport.
You pay attention to me;
You listen to what I say.
You pass on words of wisdom,
Helping me along the way.
Whenever I'm in trouble,
You always have a plan.
You are the perfect father,
And I'm your biggest fan!sigpic
