Got one when I was in my mid 30s and sure about the decision. Had it put up on my right shoulder. If I wear short sleeves it can't be seen. After about two years I got the Broncos Logo up on my left shoulder. I don't regret either and I knew that was pretty much my limit.

If you get one be sure of the design, be sure of the placement and make sure the guy doing it is skilled. You want they guys whose pictures are in the tattoo book, not his cousin the apprentice who was sweeping the floor the week before.

Well sir, my two cents on that is, I always encourage the getting of a tattoo (just make sure that the image is exactly what you want, placed exactly where you want, and the artist is reputable). If the imagery is of something meaningful to you, find a good place on the flesh, and ink it in!

For me, I have two tattoos (too), one is some abstract symbolism on my right arm just above the short sleeve-line, the other is a logo from the Sierra Nevada I had put on my back when I just turned 18. The tat on my back is profoundly meaningful to me as many of the most important events in my life would later be linked to the Sierra.

So yeah...go for it bud. :thumb:

I would recommend having a local artist design it first (and pay them etc. for it) and then thinking about placement and if you like the design or not for a while. You may come up with a better place or a better twist on the design after some thought. I've had a word document with a list of the tattoos that I've wanted for the last 8 years or so. It's changed slightly, and I've made some revisions and taken some things off of it and added others. Looking online at photos of other tattoos helps me decide a theme and style too. Still haven't got one but I plan on it as soon as I can.

I have one that i got with 2 friends. We all have different variations of the same tattoo. It's 3 smaller triangles that make up a larger one (also known as a Tri-Force to gamers) its supposed to symbolize that while we are individuals we are always together. Mind you I wouldn't get something like that with anyone but the 2 of them. I think its a great idea to get one Can if it really means something to you.

                Can never get just one...

I am torn about getting them at times... but it was cool to do as I got involved in the design of them...

Skills in line art are what's needed for tattoo work and since I pretty well mastered pen & ink art techniques when I was a teen, I have designed a few for other people - one quite large and elaborate.

I don't have one myself because I want to be absolutely sure before I mark up my skin and I just haven't been, and it's been a pretty low priority as well. If I ever got one, it would probably be something ancient Egyptian like the Eye of Horus amidst some alchemical symbols or sacred geometry. Maybe a Broncos logo included in some hieroglyphs too.

Thanks gang.....all food for thought in the world of "ink to skin".

I find that this group all has a well planned approach in mind, and not wild and whacky like many young folks I have seen. Some look like walking promos, or even books. I have to put my glasses on to read them! Now I know where the saying comes from, "read him like a book."

Makes it more comfortable for me to take advice from those with a similar mindset.

                    Appreciate it!!!

I have an armband on my left arm, it is a celtic design, with feathers "hangingin" from it that have childrens names and birthdates, each feather was done in their favorite color, when my fourth is able to tell me what her favorite color is we'll be adding her to the "tribe" tattoo. It is looking like I will have a pink feather on my arm. I also have one with an exex name on it on my right shoulder, I need to cover it up with something, but since I can't see it i'm in no hurry.

I love the idea of children being the impetus for the tattoo.....I am actually giving that a thought. Might have to get a tattwo after all!

But having an ex on you (hmmm...you know what I mean) is not where I see this going. I trust my wife will stick it out with me, but you must be careful. Seriously, young folks should NEVER get a partner's name seared onto their skin. But love is what it is. In that case there can be a backup plan.....look for another partner with the same name. You can even impress 'em with: "it was meant to be....I had this dream to put YOUR name on my body!"

EMac.....I hope you are not addicted to ink!!! Here's a test, when you see a pen, do you start to sweat or shake a little? Or when you see someone signing their name, do you tell them to do so........ON YOU?????

It's ok, there is a cure. First we transition you to pencils, and then crayons, and finally, if that doesn't work, we jump briskly into snopake therapy! We're there for you brother!

What are you thinking of getting? I got a dream catcher on my butt. I like to think of it as a doorway so bad dreams can go out and good dreams can go in.
