  • The DIY "This Is What I Built/Created/Made" Thread

The past few years, I have had an extreme interest in woodworking and building things. After my wife and I bought our house, we did a basement remodel all by ourselves. I'll share that eventually, but long story short I never played with tools/wood growing up but I started to researchby reading, watching youtube, asking friends and just trial and error and I've developed a skillset that I've enjoyed to do.

This first post, I want to share a shed build that I built all alone last summer. I wanted to clear out our garage and built a 5x12 lean shed in my backyard. I've uploaded the pics and processo imgur here's the final product:

Link to build with progress pictures!

I'd love to see what others have created, and hopefully learn a few things. It doesn't just have to be related to construction/wood but anything that you've done.

Good idea for a thread, and nicely executed build! Hey Brent, is your grass as green as it looks?!

And yes, I like your "shed keeper" as well!:thumb:

Sadly, my father was a fantastic carpenter, but I am not a chip off,,,so to speak. Mind you, I do like tearing down structures!

Thanks! And yes, I'm a grass addict. I'll try and find some nice pics from this past summers post mowing.

That's one thing I'd love to learn. See them for pretty cheap at Harbor Freight... My favorite store where I can buy solid tools that I'll only need once or twice a year. Otherwise Home Depot is my favorite place to visit.

That's what I did... there was a huge sale... from 600 to 160 on a good wire feed... so I couldn't resist.

                and the spork factory starts.

What brand? How thick can you weld with it?

Not a DIY but I used to build this brand of truck scales. And yes they are that tough.

Yeah...a helmet is a good thing. I like the huntsman paper helmet with a #9 gold lens. If you like your hair you might consider a welding hat.

Oh, here's a picture of my yard from the beginning of this past fall.

I'm one of those grass weirdos.

Now that is some impressive grass!!! Very thick!

Do some of your neighbours get annoyed, or do they try to copy you?

Watch some of them resort to this....

Oooh... Do you have a higher quality / resolution that I could look at? That is sweet.

My one neighbor (the red fence) is jealous but cool about it.

We both went in on an aerator last spring. But I did a huge dethatching where he didn't - mine turned out a bit better.

I'm just more interested in teaching/helping other people learn about grass to get that nice plush carpet like thickness.
