As for studies, many of them are solid, some not so. I would determine the source of info and their motives. If their motive is based on objectivity, and they have good credentials in the field of study, that's a big plus.

Vaping makes teens up to 7 times more likely to catch COVID-19: study
A new Stanford study links vaping to a “substantially increased risk” of COVID-19 in teens and young adults. The national sample of more than 4,000 participants conducted in May found that people who vaped were five to seven times more likely to become infected with the novel coronavirus, compared with those who did not vape.
Among the subjects tested for COVID-19, those who had ever used e-cigarettes were five times more likely to test positive for the virus than the non-users. And those who had used both e-cigarettes and conventional tobacco cigarettes within the last month were 6.8 times more likely to be diagnosed with the disease.
Teens who smoked and vaped were also five times more likely to report coronavirus symptoms, including coughing, fever, tiredness and difficulty breathing, compared with those who never smoked or vaped. And this same group was about two to nine times more likely to get tested for the virus than non-vapers and non-smokers, probably because they were more likely to exhibit symptoms.
“Young people may believe their age protects them from contracting the virus or that they will not experience symptoms of COVID-19, but the data show this isn’t true among those who vape,” the study’s lead author, Dr. Shivani Mathur Gaiha, wrote in a statement. “This study tells us pretty clearly that youth who are using vapes or are dual-using [e-cigarettes and cigarettes] are at elevated risk, and it’s not just a small increase in risk; it’s a big one.” .................................................. ...[it continues......]The beatings will continue until morale improves....Comment

Keep in mind these two factors are red flags when trying to determine if a study is a low tier study or high tier study
Some limitations include the fact that the study relied on self-reports from online surveys, and it also didn’t offer a reason why vaping would make young people more susceptible to the virus that has infected at least 20 million and killed 743,599 and counting worldwide as of Wednesday morning.
The article seems to suggest vaping itself may not be the reason but the habits around vaping.
What’s more, the researchers wrote that COVID-19 is known to spread through respiratory droplets, and repeatedly touching your mouth and your face — which is a habit common among cigarette and e-cig users. Perhaps worse, teens often share their vape pens and other e-cig devices with each other, which could also possibly spread the virus.
Ultimately I would think would not want to do this to the lungs during this time. For some reason people vape and smoke knowing Covid-19 will go after the lungs. When you want to feel negative about the Broncos think of this. Very interesting. I am old enough to remember last summer through the beginning of 2020 severe illnesses (CDC) related to vaping and possible additives that included vitamin E acetate that caused a number of deaths generally from respiratory illness.
Vitamin E acetate is no longer allowed but the connection with vaping and respiratory issues being connected to a greater risk to covid is not hard to believe.👍 1Comment

I commented about the last test relying on data from surveys. This is much better because they got data from samples.
Laboratory data show that vitamin E acetate, an additive in some THC-containing e-cigarette, or vaping, products, is strongly linked to the EVALI outbreak.
A recent studyexternal icon analyzed samples from 51 EVALI cases from 16 states and a comparison group of samples from 99 comparison individuals without EVALI for vitamin E acetate, plant oils, medium chain triglyceride (MCT) oil, coconut oil, petroleum distillates, and diluent terpenes.
Vitamin E acetate was identified in bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) fluid samples (fluid samples collected from the lungs) from 48 of the 51 EVALI patients, but not in the BAL fluid from the healthy comparison group. When you want to feel negative about the Broncos think of this. If you asked me 6 months ago how positive I felt, well lets just say I was not at my best. So many unknowns. So many worries, especially about the health and well being of my family and friends.
Went for a usual walk with the dog. Another beautiful summer day. Amazing summer weather again this year. There's been several construction projects going on this year....condo, apartments and recently, some roadwork. It's been nice actually, hearing the gang at work, working hard, sharing some laughs, playing their sometimes wild and whacky music. Keeping my distance but talking to some of them, asking how things are going. It's all good!
Today, walking in the park, smelling some cigar smoke in the still air, from a distance. And though I haven't smoked much since the 60s/early 70s (haha...cigarettes!), sometimes the smell of smoke from a cigar, or even a small, far away controlled fire, brings back so many good memories.
I've got all the sports I need, and more than I can even handle. I am surprised how well we stayed entertained all those nights, with shows I would not have watched. Simple pleasures.
We've been blessed. I live with the best person I can imagine being with. Our neighbours are mostly really nice, friendly folks. The kids are doing alright (which is our most precious hope). Most of those we know have hung in there really well. It's not perfect, but 6 months ago this would look perfect.
Fingers crossed. Stay smart. Enjoy all the good things we can. I feel a wind coming, with more positive improvements. Lots for my circle to be thankful for.Last edited by CanDB; 08-19-2020, 10:31 AM.👍 1Comment

New Covid-19 cases are declining across the US, official says, but that could quickly change if people aren't careful
States across the US are now seeing a decline in coronavirus cases, a US top official said this week, though he warned things could quickly change again if Americans aren't careful.
Trends are now "going in the right direction," said Adm. Brett Giroir, the Trump administration physician overseeing US coronavirus testing, attributing the decline in part to safety protocols such as masks and social distancing.
The daily average number official new coronavirus cases reported in the US has been declining for weeks. Cases over the past week averaged about 47,300 as of Wednesday, down from a peak average of 67,317 on July 22, Johns Hopkins University data shows.Comment

Good news, but to note - Reduced testing, problems with reporting test results, and a new and poorly working system for reporting information via a private company rather than the CDC could skew this picture. Forget the reported new case trends, look at hospitalization rates and death rates (including excess mortality) to get an idea how bad things are.sigpic
