BTW....if they have a choice between important stories and non important ones, I think the clicks factor is valid.

Maybe some folks don't like stories because they differ from what they choose to believe. There are plenty of good journalists around.

A classic example was the selective outrage of mass gatherings. 5000 people gathered to protest something that the media disagreed with, equals murderers and bad people spreading death and destruction and ruin. 5000 people protesting something that the media agrees with, equals genuine greatness and champions of society, and definitely not spreading COVID-19. In the face of a pandemic, we need actual news and facts, not hyperbole and political activism masquerading as journalism. It's a disgrace.

Just got notified that we are to wear masks in public areas of the condo, for the next while. We're fine with it. Even in The Peg, where we "apparently" overreact and panic over nothing.

I don't know. I think the top news networks and journalists which have been around forever have some sort of credibility to them.... I think the term 'fake news' has been such a popular term in the last four years, that I honestly probably RARELY heard it being said before 2016...

I also think the term fake news is an easy "out" for some people, only because the provided information or factual data doesn't fit THEIR OWN views.....

I mean lets all remember (and I'm trying not to skirt the CoC here) - this Covid problem or pandemic and the initial lack of response (which has been proven multiple times) that has lead use to where we are now was touted as "fake news" and a certain party representations new "hoax."

I mean what are we at now, 205,000+ deaths in the USA? Sure - we can go back and forth about how Nancy Joe had severe dementia with COPD and heart failure, and she died at 93 years old (while being Covid +), so it "didn't really count" as a Covid death...

But for a leader of a nation to proclaim "fake news" left and right, or make up information about how the pandemic will just go away, or make a health crisis a political platform, stray away from what professional scientists are researching and claiming - is a slap in the face to anyone living here in the states, and to anyone who has been affected by Covid - whether personally or professionally.

I'm not here to convince anyone that they should be more on board with regard to caution and such. I think it's more about respect than anything else, showing fellow family, friends and citizens that you do not want to harm them. That doing your part to minimize the spread of this oft deadly disease seems like the right thing to do, given health should be in the highest of priorities, and that it does play a huge role in terms of economics, and yes, the health of business, schools, and every facet of our lives.

Regardless.....I am going to do my part, and keep my fingers crossed, because this next month will be very telling. Cases are going up in many areas. School and "lowering of guards", among other things, might be a concern, but we will see. October's results are going to give me a reasonably good handle on how things are going. I don't need the media to influence that. The data itself, observation, listening and reading others take on their situations, and various other influencers in the analysis process should approximate the situation reasonably well.

I hope the situation improves. I really do.

He also made absurd statements about how "coronavirus will magically disappear."

Hey, that was back in February. It is now almost October, and we have 200+ thousand deaths. Awesome work! It really magically disappeared....

People want to RAG on the news reporters, journalists, and networks about the lies/"fake news" yet our leader is making comments like this? Give me a break...

Factual statements hurt and are hard to support when they are backed up by horrible and factual results that are the polar opposite of those orignal statements.
