    I mean - you were the one that mentioned people should wear masks in close populated spaces. I don’t know why a picture of a bunch of people together (with most not wearing masks) who have been tested positive with covid should be swept to the side and ‘accepted’ as it’s their own right and attitude when we both know all of them were in the wrong.

    I don’t understand how some cctv footage of a lady in a bathrobe after getting her hair washed is even remotely comparable, especially to your original statement that I replied to.

    Do do you disagree?
    Either all leaders of government should set the example or none of them have to do so.

      I think you are comparing apples and oranges. Yes, she may have been irresponsible in that one specific situation, but look at the bigger picture and the settings involved.

      I wear a mask frequently, and I distance myself, wash up and so on. I conscientiously think covid caution throughout the day, inside our building and outside. But as careful as I am, I slip occasionally. We are supposed to wear masks in the common areas of our condo, and just the other day I forgot to put my mask on when entering the building. Got caught up in things for a moment. I soon realized it, and no one was around. But if someone saw me and took a quick pic, does that represent my true respect for this pandemic? I say no. That would be cherry picking. But if I had a big party in the condo lounge and told everyone to be cool and not worry about any of this stuff, I would be far, far more out of line.

        Leaders are held to a higher standard.

        Good leaders hold themselves to a higher standard.

        Either Pelosi has to set a good example or no one should complain about the President.

        It goes back to my earlier comment about accepting that we each have different attitudes and opinions about COVID-19 and will act accordingly. The President has a different attitude and opinion than others. I’m closer to his than yours even though I will wear a mask when necessary.

          Wait - so you are literally going to dodge my response and agreeance to your original statement about the lack of masks in cluttered spaces such as the president and everyone else in the rose garden, with CCTV footage of a lady walking around a saloon shop, in a private 1 on 1 scheduled appointment, AFTER a shower.

          OOookay!

          Good leaders hold themselves to a higher standard? Like.... our commander in chief?

            You’re the one holding the President and Nancy Pelosi to different standards.

            Again, the President has a different attitude and opinion about COVID-19 and is going to behave accordingly.

            Is he saying one thing about it and then doing another? I doubt it, but I also don’t follow everything coming out of Washington DC.

              Can you describe this as best you can? And don't forget the part about when he was infected, got world class plus plus plus service? So....start with pre infection attitude/opinion, and then post infection. And has it changed or been reinforced as a result of having a helicopter, group of great doctors, best available infection treatments, and a home that is like a mini hospital? I eagerly await your interpretation. Lets be fair, every one of us has these exact same support systems.

                        • I miss having our Canadian Thanksgiving with family, but through the increasing value of zoom and other technical gems (in these times), I love that we have great "gatherings" with family just the same. The value add may not match the face to face aspect of course, but we are spending seemingly more time together (especially with those further away) via other methods. Necessity is the mother of invention....or whatever you wish to describe it as.

                            The link below gives Weekly Counts of Death and Select Causes
                            https://data.cdc.gov/NCHS/Weekly-Cou...uses/muzy-jte6

                            This site shows weekly death counts state by state in alphabetical order from Alabama to Wyoming for 2019 and 2020.
                            After Wyoming, it gives total U.S. counts for 2019 and 2020. For 2019 it shows weeks 1-52, for 2020 weeks 1-39.
                            Week one of 2019 for the U.S. begins at row 4816, week one of 2020 for the U.S. begins at row 4868.
                            I used the fifth column, all causes, to do my tally.

                            Total deaths from all causes for 2019, weeks 1-52: 2,855,000 (237,917 average/month)
                            Total deaths from all causes for 2020, weeks 1-39: 2,130,000 (236,667 average/month)

                            2,130,000 + (236,667 x3) (Oct,Nov, Dec) = 2,840,000

                            2017 2,813,503
                            2018 2,839,205
                            2019 2,855,000
                            2020 2,840,000 (includes 3 month average projection for Oct, Nov, Dec)

                            What about the numbers ?

                            I know many folks that have tested positive for C19 including family members.
                            Many of them never showed any symptoms as they stayed in quarantine for 2 wks.
                            Some felt a little lousy for a couple of days and had the sniffles but are fine now.
                            Fortunately they all were in good health before testing positive.

                            One friend of mine's Mom was already in a nursing home before the C19 outbreak.
                            She was in the home for 2 yrs prior. Unfortunately she passed on in April.
                            The saddest part was that my friend was not allowed to see her.

                            If I tested positive and I crashed my motorcycle, did I die from Covid ?
                            Makes me wonder about the accuracy of the Covid death tally.

                            Also, so many different tests. Some take a week for results, others are immediate.

                            Last night I was surfing channels and caught a sketch on SNL.
                            It looked like it may have been Bill Burr, playing a mob boss.
                            Everyone at the table were sitting very close and touching each other.
                            It seemed kind of ironic that NYC is locked down but SNL can go on.

                            ~~~
                            Anyway, we're over 9 months into 2020 and the U.S death rate for all causes
                            is in the same ballpark as the past few years. That's what I was trying to relate.
                            Anyone that tests positive becomes a case.
                            That case is added to the C19 stats.
                            The actual death rate rarely gets mentioned, just the amount of cases.
                            Yes as millions are now being tested, the case rate goes up.
                            However, the death rate is falling way down.
                            ~~~

                            I'm glad that the predictions of over 2 million deaths in the U.S from C19 didn't prevail.
                            I am curious as to how many actual deaths were caused by pure C19 alone,
                            excluding people with compromised immune systems and comorbidities etc.
                            I'd also like to know how many death certificates were issued for C19
                            from multiple gunshot wounds and auto accidents etc.

                              Anyway, we're over 9 months into 2020 and the U.S death rate for all causes
                              is in the same ballpark as the past few years. That's what I was trying to relate.

                              Anyone that tests positive becomes a case.
                              That case is added to the C19 stats.
                              The actual death rate rarely gets mentioned, just the amount of cases.
                              Yes as millions are now being tested, the case rate goes up.
                              However, the death rate is falling way down.

                                It wasn’t so much the numbers themselves, frightening though they were, as who reported them: Imperial College London.
