      No kidding, huh?

I guess the girls should have gone to the party where the cursing and drinking was going on. Hell, a minor in possession is what... fifty bucks or so?

That's cheap compared to their lawsuit now.

I guess the morale of the story is: Never do anything for anyone, ever.

        Didn't Homer Simpson say that?

interestingly enough, i read another story that said she declined to stop the lawsuit after the family apolgized and offered to pay her medical bills b/c "the apology wasn't good enough" . . . then she sued for pain and suffering. hmmm

Judges such as that one are ruining this country. I hope that no one learned anything from that load of BS. How can it physically be proven that the cookies or the fact that it was 10:30pm "caused" this anxiety attack. Were there absolutely no precursors? I'm not sure who the bigger tool is here, the lady who filed suit or the magestrate who granted the sum.
I've walked these streets, a loaded six-string on my back, I play for keeps 'cause I might not make it back, I've been everywhere still I'm standin' tall, I've seen a million faces and I've rocked them all!!:salute!:

                            Typical lib judge.
"It does not take a majority to prevail, but rather an irate,
tireless minority keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of
                            men."

How do you know he's liberal, rc?

                              That's an asinine comment.

                              Moving on to intelligent matters...

I wouldn't be suprised if that's t he same old lady that sued McDonald's over the coffee-being-spilt-on-her-lap.
In case you're interested, the McDonald's that got sued first had the coffee temperature set at some absurdly hot temp - in violation of health code ordinance and their own coprorate recommendations. Then, when they handed the coffee to the lady, the lid was not properly secured. She attempted to place it in her lap, but the lid fell off causing third degree burns (because the coffee was so friggin' hot).

She went to the doctor and had a 700 dollar bill for the burn treatment, which she then took to the McDonald's and asked them to pay. They refused and essentially told her to stick it. It was only then that she persued a legal recourse, and sued for "punative" damages - essentially, money to teach them a lesson.

The jury decided on the amount of the damages, not the lady or her lawyer. The jury must have been pretty convinced of some major negligence in order to award that amount, or thought that McD's was morally out of line by a significant degree. That was all the jury's doing however, and it had nothing to do with the judge or the victim. That was 12 folks just like you an me.

Had they been following the health laws in the first place, their corporate policy, or had they not been twits to her and just paid for her burn treatment, none of it would have ever gone to court.
