  • What would/do you give up for Lent?

**Albeit I'm not Catholic, every year it makes me think about what I would give up. I have many Catholic friends and I find their answers varying and interesting.

Do you have to give it up for good or just for a certain number of days?

Well, I'll give up cleaning the filter on my dryer. I'm sure my lint will appreciate that. Oops, I'm not Catholic...

                Just 40 days 420.

Remember the movie 40 Days and 40 Nights? That's what he was doing. It was Lent.

However, not being Catholic, it's nice not to have to do this...hehehe...However, the premise of 40 days is a good one and is used throughout the Bible.

I'm not sure what I'd give up. I know I'm always amused by my friends' "sacrifices"

They always choose something like candy or some such thing that really isn't that hard to give up for 40 days in the first place. It's pretty funny.

I think the hardest thing for me to give up would be either T.V. or using the Internet...I'm always on this bloody thing.

Some Catholics would consider it a private matter....between them and God.

Of course, during Lent, friday meals usually consist of 1 main meal (fasting) and no meat (abstaining).
Being as broke as I am, though, that's nothing new.....

You couldnt last 40 days - id bet on it

Ever see the Seinfeld episode where they had that contest - LOL

I was gonna say smokage but damn - 40 days

How about my kids or work - I could easily do without them for 40 days

But i would probably chose either fried food or chocolate - probably fried foods

the hardest for me would be smokage and internet without a doubt.

I could lay off that other thing much easier than the smokage and internet for sure.

I'm not Catholic but my dad was, so out of respect for him we were asked to give up something we liked until Easter. So I think I will give up ....oh no not that.....I'll give up peanut butter. That is a huge weakness of mine. If I buy it I eat it straight out of the jar. Has to be Jiff Creamy, no other brand. Occasionally it makes it to a English Muffin and it's so thick that it drips off the sides, add a nice cup of coffee and we're good to go, but it rarely makes it that far
