If you are a group that complains abotu how indecent something is, why on earth would you have a clip, for free, with no age filters, on your website?

These people are responsible for obver 98 percent of all complaints to the FCC.

And they are too stupid to realize that the FCC has no authrity over cable, whatsoever.

Everybody's gotta elevate from the norm...

Oh yeah, I heard about them on CNN. Their site does seem kind of counterproductive, doesn't it? I should email them to say thanks for filling me in on all the naughty stuff I missed the first time around.

As I have stated in other posts; Being a parent gives one the right to free-range hypocrisy. Censorship is control, plain and simple.
I've walked these streets, a loaded six-string on my back, I play for keeps 'cause I might not make it back, I've been everywhere still I'm standin' tall, I've seen a million faces and I've rocked them all!!:salute!:

As an FCC licence holder, I don't think they want censorship. They are certainly free to file complaints to teh FCC until the cows come home.

But other than what I posted earlier, the other thing that makes me laugh is the "WARNING: EXPLICIT CONTENT" disclaimer....two fully clothed kids making out. Who are obviously NOT having sex because he is having some problems saluting, ya know? But there is nothing explict about it.

Its just the hypocrisy that I find hysterical.

I like Jav's idea. Lets start writing them letters thanking them for keeping us up to dae on all the smut on TV. Now we don't need VCR's!

They will hide Censorship behind the moniker "decency" which is still control.
These are the poeple who copulate through a hole in a bed-sheet. They probably think that the stuff on Cinemax after 1am qualifies as pornography too.

I meant the FCC doesn;t want censorship. These yahoos at the website, yes, they want censorship. They probably believe 7th Heaven is quality programming. Family friendly? yes. But such horrible scripts and acting.....

What do you perceive that the function of the FCC is? Maybe I'm all wet on this one.

SInce it has been totally de-regulated (beginning under Regan) , all they can do is investigate complaints. They used to actually censor. Up until the 1970's they'd actually hit towns at random with a crew and listen to very TV and radio staion licensed in the area. They would a roll tape, take notes, and then station owner would get letters and/or fines in the mail. Mind you, this was regardless if the fact that no local listeners may have complained. To me, that is censorhip. The communiy should be the one to decide if it thinks a local station is doing something they don;t lile.

80% of their budget is spent on license review, renewal, and new applications.

I think they should be dismantled, personally, but their actual work for the last 25 years (until Powell was chair, anyway) was just to make sure that dry stuff like tower regs and power output were all up to code. Boring stuff, but actually pretty necessary to keep stations from stepping on each other.

Powell tried to make the FCC something like it used to be, but like I said, when 98% of your complaints come from one organization, you really can't justify trying to turn back time. In some ways the de-regualtion of the FCC has been good. But the de-regulation of the ownership rules has been bad.
