How many of you liked Yimous' last release (Hero) better than his most recent (House of Flying Daggers)?

I liked Hero much better. The storyline was more compelling for me. Nationlism, mysticism and swordplay.

    Outta sight.

      I do.

      I love em.

I haven't seen House of Flying Daggers yet but I'll probably get it on DVD.

I have about 100 movies from Hong Kong. Maybe more.

Most of them are Jackie Chan, Jet Li and Chow Yun Fat.

I got most of John Woo's stuff.

My favorite Hong Kong movie is either Drunken Master 2 (Chinese version) or The Killer.

Hey TDK, reccomend some of your favorites to me, if you don't mind.

Also, what entails a favorite to you and why?

I am entertained by stunning visuals, a solid storyline and artistic martial arts. I'm pretty much sold on those kind of Asian films.

Judging by how many DVDs that you have, I would have to agree.

seven samuri is a great movie too.

i think i liked hero a bit more than flying daggers, but i enjoyed both.

great opportunity to see one, although of a different genre than the one's mentioned so far, in the theaters now: kung fu hustle

                  go broncos

                  liberty > safety . . . ron paul '12!

I love martial arts films, and I love martial arts. House of flying daggers is really good, and i'm looking forward to see Hero. Jet Li rocks.

Heh, so where were you when I started a thread about Hero and mattos was the only one to reply to it?

I really liked Hero. House of Flying Daggers was pretty good, but Hero had a tighter story IMO. Both had very memorable scenes (like the "echo game" in House of Flying Daggers) that will make you watch over and over because they are so memorable.

And you should check out Kung Fu Hustle if you haven't already. That movie is a straight up riot.
