  • Im pissed off!

Ok, so I go to a High School Football meeting today for upcoming freshman. Then one girl announced that she was going to play football for us next year. When I heard that, I got really pissed off. Its not that I am sexist, cause I love the ladies, but I think that having a girl on the team would take away the "Brotherhood" of playing high school football.

What are your guy's opinion's about this?

Well, I have no daughters and would consider myself a chauvenist, hence I will avoid the imminent insertion of the foot...
I've walked these streets, a loaded six-string on my back, I play for keeps 'cause I might not make it back, I've been everywhere still I'm standin' tall, I've seen a million faces and I've rocked them all!!:salute!:

Yeah, I hope so. But she said that she was probably gonna play line. I just laughed and was thinking about how much pain she will go through.

But did having a girl play on your team ruin the "Brotherhood" of the team?

You know that if you are supportive towards her, you have a better chance at that "brotherhood" that you seek....just a suggestion..

I don't see any problem with it.

If she wants to play, let her play.

It should be about team spirit.

Not about some ****-erotic brotherhood thing you keep bringing up.

            I'm just teasing.

            But still, let her play.

I dont know if I am the only one on my team that has a problem with it. But I guess I am just making a bigger deal out of it than I should be. But I will be supportive towards her, I will be supportive towards all of my football teamates.I will talk to my friends about it and see what they think.

BVP, football is the greatest team sport in the history of mankind, IMO..why wouldn't you want to share that with anyone who wants to play?

Its not that I dont want to share it, its just that sometimes I use football as my escape from girls, and the world around me. And with a girl on my team, it wouldnt be the escape that I look for.

Worry about your football assignment and share the glory with her as a teammate..

I played sports, and I am not sure what you mean by 'brotherhood.' On any team, there were people I liked and disliked, but as long as everyone tried their hardest and played to win, I had no beef with them. I wouldn;t have said any o fthem were clsoe friends. Its not a requirement of being a teammate.

                      The only questions that matter:

                      1) Can she do the job required of her?

                      2) Can she do it without special considerations?

                      3) Does she feel that her gender isn't an issue and she will not use it as an excuse if she fails?

If the answer to those questions are all yes, and the coaches feel she can help you win ball games, then you should welcome her. You do play to win, right? (insert Herm edwards.....hahaha)

We had a girl on our soccer team, and she started. Sharp shooter, excellent footwork, vicious slide tackler. As a teamamte, I would have beat the crap out of any opposing guy who gave her crap for being a girl or tried to touch something he wasn't supposoed to if I knew she would be pissed at me for doing so. She could handle herself, thank you very much. That just meant she would score two goals on your ass instead of one. Some guys were pissed that a girl started over them, but you know what, on most days, she was our second best player, and easily one of the best players on either team. And she helped us win games. So it was fine by me if someone CLEARLY better than me started. Is that what you are worried about, that a girl might be better than you at something? Welcome to the adult world. There are women who are better at lots of things than I am. Might as well learn about it now

I guess I would have to share my football assignment with her, if she plans on being a lineman. Because thats what I am.

Given the violent nature of the high school game, I sincerely doubt that this girl is going be able to contribute at a high level, outside of punter or kicker or something like that. Maybe reciever...depends where her skills lie.

They should accomodate the gals by providing *at least* a recreation girls league.

On the flip side, I would definitely laugh my a$$ off, watching her put a few guys on their kiester.

                            hey

This is not a horrible thing, BVP!

This is an OPPORTUNITY. It is an opportunity for you to step back from an emotional reaction, and use your head to respond instead.

Chances are it wont work anyway, so why not be kind, helpful, and magnanimous? And if it works, you and your friends could help make it work!

She obviously has a big set of cojones, so why not help her out?

Believe me, the opposing teams will punish her a lot, she does not need her teammates punish her also.

You can be earn your reputation here, you and the whole team.

You guys can be the rat bastards who screwed her over the whole way and thwarted her from success or failure on her own merits...

or you guys can be the cool mother butlers who did every thing you could to help her succeed, and at the least stayed out of her way.

You tell your teamates what I said. Then you guys choose!

This is the part in the movie where the cool guys make the right choice.

Well then here is your chance at finding out what kind of man you are going to grow up to be.

You can do one of a few things:

                              1) Pick on her and make it difficult for her.

                              2) Be indifferent, and let her talent decide if she makes the team, with no help or hurt from you.

                              3) Treat her like any other teammate and be polite and offer help with technique if asked.
