About a week ago, this thing started popping up every time I signed on. It keeps telling me I have to open some e-mail to keep my account current.

The thing is, I dont have MSN! I have AOL. I have no MSN Messenger account!

My daughter said she can get rid of it.......

Lol, I think if you went to your control panel it might be a program and you could remove it...not sure if it's a program though. Worth a check though.

should beable to go into the options or settings on it and set it so it doesn't startup automatically. there is generally that option in there.

Well, I just deleted the shortcut, but in the control panel, it has to be under one of the other Windows items. It's not listed seperately. I wont mess with that stuff.....

I try finding some place to change it's options, but it doesnt give me that.

                          No biggie.....

                            go to the start menu

                            Go to "run"

                            type in "msconfig"

There will be a panel marked "startup"

In there, you can click or unclick which programs automatically start in the background when Windows starts.

NOTE: Do not attmpt to do this unless you are positive of what you are clicking, or it is something obviously marked like "MSmsg.exe" (MS Messenger).

Generally, you'll find a lot of useless crap starts up with Windows that runs in teh background and slows your computer down. Media player, message programs, photo editing software, etc. None of which need to run until you need them.
