Good to see Risk get a few mentions. My bro and I had a lot of fun playing that one - with me winning 99% of the time 
Occassionally my mum would join in as it's better played with three players but mostly it was just me and my bro and the old "neutral army" serving as the third player. We used to quarrel a lot about who would get the red counters. I learned quite a bit of my geography with that game too with the map of all the continents and different regions.
