If someone uses one of your quotes, it really means that they agree with it and they're upset they didn't get the chance to say it first---- Dave Navarro 1991

The main reason I don't like the Bronco's is because every time I see their logo it reminds me of my drunk boyfriend who used to write his name in the snow with his urine then belch the letters of Elway's name----- Sandra Bernhard 1993

This was a HARD one, it really mean't picking between Nirvana and Pearl Jam. Everyone always says Nirvana, but I think Pearl Jam were underrated in comparison...think I'd say Pearl Jam in that race.

However, I put Stone Temple Pilots as I think they are "my" favorite 90's band, still live and kicking today also, deeply creative, I love them.

Also, would like to shout out to White Zombie, saw them live at Reading in I think '95, they were awesome!
I love Clinton, and I don't mean Bill.

Although I think that Soundgarden was the most artistic and complex band listed, both in songwriting and personality, I think STP is one of those bands that is greater than the sum of their parts. Also, each album is that: an album. Cohesive with a sound and theme. They kept progressing too, which Soundgarden didn't do between their last two albums. I think that STP has called it quits though. That's the rumors here in SD, which is their home base.

Also, one of the great radio rock bands ever. Their songs just sounded so good. And the variety of styles, form neo-grunge (Plush) to psychelic Beatlesque pop rock (Lady Picture Show) to Led Zep style arena sounding stuff (Tripping on a Hole in a Paper Heart)....a lot of diversity.

Now that is just of the bands listed. I could go on about Radiohead, U2, Our Lady Peace, Metallica, and others being on that list as well, but that is another time.

Apropo of nothing., VH1 Classic just showed the video for "Welcome to the Machine" by Pink Floyd. Ummmmm.....sorry, didn't drop acid, didn't get it. Although it was pretty creepy in that "Heavy Metal" animated style

Everybody's gotta elevate from the norm...

        Stp first
        Pearl Jam second.

I think if Wieland spent less time in rehab, it would be more apparent.

          NO SAY ITS NOT SOOOO!!!
You know I'm sooo out of touch, but I'm deeply upset by this, I'm crawling under my desk, I may resurface later....may.

Question Jared: Our Lady Peace, they had a song out a couple of years ago, all I can remember was it was a slow song, I loved it, got heavy rotation on VH1/MTV...in the video they were sitting in the rain...do you know what song that was???

Anyway, crawling back under desk and assuming fetal position.

Wasn;t our lady of peace song something like Supermans dead?

STP supposedly broke up, that is why they called the last album of greatest hots "Thank you" Weiland teamed us with Slash, Duff and the rest of GnR and formed a band called Velvet Revolver, they did a song on the Hulk Movie last year called "set me free"

yes, I am certain that STP is done. Too many rehab trips for Scott Weiland.

OLP has had some very cool ballads. I have never seen any of their vids, so I will just list the ones that got the most airplay on FM 96, London, Ontario's rock station over the last 4 years. I listened to it a lot before I moved to California last summer:

              Clumsy
              4 A.M.
              Blister
              In Repair
              Innocent

They had other singles that were good (Starseed, Superman's Dead) but those are faster tunes. So I think you are thinking of "Innocent" which is the most recent (late 2002), but "a couple of years ago" is a vague term.

              Sorry about that fetal position.....

As for STP, this from their offical site:

"Weiland's label spokesperson said STP are "on hiatus" and that "we are not aware of Weiland's specific activites at this time."

What about other singers still waiting for a callback? Besides previously reported hopefuls, Travis Meeks (Days of the New), Mike Matijevic (vocals for Mark Wahlberg's character in "Rock Star," Steelheart, Steel Dragon), and Todd Kerns (Age of Electric, Static in Stereo, Todd Kerns Oddity) are now on the list. It was rumored that Mike Patton from Faith No More and Butch Walker from Marvelous 3 were asked to try out, but both supposedly declined."

So, if the other three guys are doing work with a new singer, ala "Talk Show" I am guessing no new STP music for a while, at least. Weiland is supposedly working on a new solo album, according to Rolling Stone.

i was just about to write that green day didn't deserve to be on this list when i came across your post. but i'll say it anyways. green day is a member of that post-grunge-pop-alternative wave, like the blasted foo fighters (cobain has been turning constant revolutions in his grave ever since). they came out just when grunge became popular, thus ceasing to exist, and got a following from the "i buy thrift store clothes because they're cool" crowd. i never much cared for green day. but i like you fine, so, sorry.

I voted for Green Day too, I like their style, I had to put them or The OFFSPRING on the list, fortunately I like Billy better than Dexter so I chose to put Green Day on here. They are great punk band. They have excellent music, and I like their voice!

It's a tie. 311 and STP. One very good underrated band and one very good band. I've seen both live and their shows are excellent.
