  • How many here realize how lucky you are?

    I pose the question.

HOW MANY HERE REALIZE HOW LUCKY YOU ARE?

Answers might vary, only mostly they should say....

LUCKY AS A DAMNED LEPERACHUAN JUMPING FROM THE CROOK OF A TREE AS THE WOODCHOPPERS START TO CUT IT DOWN!

How damned Lucky are you? You spoiled, pampered, American son of a gun?

Did you have to wait 3 days for your new X-BOX 360?

Did your Dad make you mow the lawn?

Did your kid bail... so, Dad... did you have to mow your lawn?

How damned unlucky are you you son of a buck?

I certainly know how lucky I am Painter (for health, my country, my son, my family, 9-2 - lol, etc.) but how often I remind myself of that is another matter. Thanks for reminding us all to remind ourselves.

True happiness is not attained through self-gratification, but through fidelity to a worthy purpose.
This famous quote on happiness by Helen Keller

You will never be happier than you expect. To change your happiness, change your expectation.
This famous happiness quote by Bette Davis

Hope is itself a species of happiness, and, perhaps, the chief happiness which this world affords.
This quote on happiness by Samuel Johnson

Happiness is man's greatest aim in life. Tranquility and rationality are the cornerstones of happiness.

                Beyond lucky!

                Astronomically lucky!!

I think if I got any luckier, I be accused of stealing it!

I could go on & on, but, you get the idea.

To be honest I thank God almost everyday for all He has blessed me with.

I have a wonderful, loving, healthy family.
I have an amazing girlfriend that is just as much in love with me as I am with her
                  I have an awesome job
I have a comfortable home to go to every night
I am a good looking, healthy, responsible, loyal person (modestly said)
And I am a fan of the best damn NFL team out there!

What more could I ask for? Sure there are many more material things I'd like to have in my life, but I'm fully satisfied with what I have.

I make sure that as often as I ask the Lord for things, I thank Him for all He has given me.
                  My other love...

In a way, I get kind of tired of this line of thinking.

Things don't go well for people simply because they are an American. Americans have had to work hard to achieve the things we have achieved. Every great thing we have achieved, we have shared with the rest of the world. At least those who are willing to accept that which we offer the rest of the world.

We are a lucky people because we created our own luck.

Don't you think this could be interpreted as you, individually, are lucky to have been born in a country (assuming you were) where you were given the opportunities Painter talks about and not in a place like Ethiopia or somewhere where you are fighting just to keep from starving to death?
