I am a beer snob. A big one. I hate the crappy American lagers that get shoved down our throats with their multimillion dollar advertising blitzes.

Because I haven't seen a thread like this, I'll post one. What are the best beers that people might not have heard of? Any recommendations?

I'm personally a big fan of Bells brewery. They've got a great beer called "Double Cream Stout." It tastes like a really heavy porter. Good stuff if you haven't tried it.

One of my favorites is Negra Modelo. It's a dark beer. Good stuff.

One of the few Mexican beers out there that you don't have to put a lime in to make taste good. You ought to try Pacifico, too. Interesting lager. The lime helps, but it's still good without.

Molson's alright, but I don't trust any beer maker that makes an "ice" variety of beer. Beer should be filtered above freezing, IMO.

Coors Light. I drink to get a nice buzz going not to sit and admire the hops used or all that other superfluous stuff. If I cared that much i'd drink whine. Nasty beers are Keystone Light and that knockoff crap, Coors and Bud are not that bad.

Miller High Life, MGD, Coors Light, Blue Moon are my favorite but if I am partying I go strictly Coors Light.

We have a microbrewery here in Nebraska called Emperium they make a beer called Dark Side that is really good. Its a vanilla porter. Burning Skye is pretty good too.

Heineken must be an acquired taste because from the beers i've drank I find it pretty damn nasty.

Blue Moon is the best wheat beer made. It tastes awesome with an orange slice in it.

I am. If you have to put an orange slice in it for it to taste "right," it's not my cup of tea... er, beer.

I'm not a big fan of wheat beers. And I find Belgian whites to be unbelievably disagreeable to my palate. Give me dark beer any day of the week.

All great recommendations! Celebrator is on my top 5 all time favorites. I love that stuff. No refridgeration required!

Emperium, eh? I'm not familiar with them, but that sounds pretty tasty. Vanilla porter... mmmm. Yum. If you've got a link, I wouldn't mind tracking them down to see if I can't get a case shipped out this way.

Ahhh man it's not even worth talking about it now. We do not see eye to eye when it comes to great beers.

"Black lager... This beer is really smooth"... YEA RIGHT. Absolutely disgusting is what it is.
