I dont, but if I did, then I would be thinking that I had done something really wrong to deserve all the bad luck I seem to be having lately.

karma is a philosophy from India that justifies the mistreatment of a race of people called “the untouchables”.

Karma is the idea that you pay for what you do wrong. Karma as a belief is not “new” at all, it originated from India. In India, Hindus and Buddhists believe that karma is accumulated through reincarnation and one pays for karma in their next reincarnation.

In India, karma is used as an excuse to justify the caste system. They believe that people who were born to low castes are born that way because they were evil in a past life.They are known as the untouchables. They and anybody who is crippled or poor are denied equality and opportunities to improve their life. According to karmic belief, Hindus believe that helping them would worsen their condition, prolonging the time they have to suffer to pay for their bad karma. Thus the belief in karma plus reincarnation equals oppression.

In Hinduism, some animals are sacred because it is believed that people incarnate into them. Sadly, such beliefs keeps India poor because the Hindus believe that rats are sacred. They will not exterminate rats even though they eat one third of the crops and cause disease. The cows and rats eat the crops but starving people are not allowed to eat of it.

I appreciate your elaborate explanation. But I was wondering if you had any links or sources for this. I am of east Indian origin and I never knew this concept of Karma. I have always known the scientific concept of karma generating from the Indian holy books and how karma is related to the universal law of conservation of mass and energy.

Worship of certain animals like rats have nothing to do with karma. That happens in just one small town in a small state in India and is in no way representative of the entire counrty. Also the social caste system in India was done away a century ago.

Here's a question for you. do you believe in Karma? as in what goes around comes around. i for one do. i have done something bad and then more bad stuff happens to me. i do something good and more good stuff happens to me.

I think the universe has an effective way of balancing itself out.

If you look at how everything in our universe is set up, from the cosmos to inter personal relationships, there are moments of instability before everything eventually comes into balance.
