Today is the day that we honor the men and women, past and present, who have given their lives, or are risking them right now, in the defense of our country. This may sound a little cheezy, but since my dad is a soldier, I figured I should post something about veterans day. to all of the soldiers stationed in Iraq, kuwait, afghanistan, or wherever, Id just like to thank you. without you, the concepts of freedom and democracy would be nonexistant. God bless you.

It's easy to have faith in yourself and have discipline when you're a winner, when you're number one. What you got to have is faith and discipline when you're not a winner.

My Dad is a retired Air Force vet, my Brother in Law is stationed at Ramstein AFB (the base I grew up on) and has been through the mideast several times the last few years (he had to spend 8 months there last year, shipped him off to Saudi two weeks before Christmas). When I was young it was what I wanted to do, I have lots of friends in service or recently discharged and have been a pole bearer for a few older vets I knew and worked with. Much respect and love for those who do that duty, for those of you who don't understand or need to better understand please read this...
The Morality Of War
War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things;
the decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling
which thinks that nothing is worth war, is much worse.
A man who has nothing for which he is willing to fight;
nothing he cares about more than his own personal safety;
is a miserable creature who has no chance of being free,
unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.
...oh yeah, Thank you.Do you know where a fella can get a rub and a tug round here?

If you take what I have to say seriously, then I'm embarrassed for you.

Just to throw my two cents in there... I too want to thank the military members that have placed their lives on the lines in defense of this country. I'm especially pleased to see the NFL has made a valiant effort to recognize our beloved military members. God Bless and Semper Fi.
Nuff said....
Not as lean & Not as mean.. but damn proud to claim the title of (former) U.S. Marine

Here is the quote below with the source.. I served in the Air Force and fought in the Persian Gulf War and Somolia.
"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feelings, which thinks that nothing is worth war, is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing, which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than him." -- John Stewart Mill (1806-1873)Last edited by invisogothworld; 11-11-2003, 11:48 PM.
