That was from the article correct? Not from your post right?! Your post makes one believe that only a movie set burned down. Hence my response that 'it is nothing to be sad about, because it is only a movie set'.

If you were looking for sympathy, which you clearly were, you would have titled it 'Wildfire destroys several towns in California'.

But no, you were only pointing out Pioneer Town.
--- "looking for sympathy, which you clearly were" ---

--- Sorry that I entitled the thread wrong ---

--- Yes, I quoted the link to try to convince you that Pioneertown was a "town ---

--- And maybe it was more nostalgia than history that went up in smoke, but I grew up watching all those old shows ---

--- Sorry that I made you think it was "just a set" ---

--- I'll try to name the threads better ---

"The blaze burned through Pioneertown, and television news footage of the area showed several structures burned to the ground.

California Department of Forestry Captain Marc DeRosier said at least 30 homes and outbuildings were destroyed in Pioneertown and surrounding towns"

I wasn't saying anything remotely like that. What I said was that it was just a set and there is no reason to cry about it. Much like how I would feel right now if Universal Studio burned down. Hopefully nobody was in it. But it is just a set..

--- Here is some info for you to chew on ---

--- We may not agree that Roy Rogers and Gene Autry were part of American history ---

--- However, after filming stopped in the ‘60s, a town that grew up around your “set”, continued growing ---

    --- It is real ---

--- It has been destroyed, many homes and businesses have been leveled ---

--- I’m sure even the most cynical would agree that it is sad to lose one’s home ---

started a topic --- Pioneertown Lost To Wildfire !!! ---

    --- Pioneertown Lost To Wildfire !!! ---

--- Pioneertown, about two hours east of Los Angeles, was host to Roy Rogers, Russ "Lucky" Hayden and other Hollywood cowboys who helped establish the desert hideaway in 1946 ---

--- Movie crews nailed together a saloon, hauled up a railroad car and sank posts around the "OK Corral." ---

--- Gene Autry filmed "Last of the Pony Riders" and "Indian Territory" in Pioneertown ---

--- Hayden, who played the sidekick in the "Hopalong Cassidy" movies, used it for his "Judge Roy Bean" TV series, and "Cisco Kid" producers shot several movies and the TV series there ---

--- A lot of history up in smoke !!!
