Anthems and Protests ---
While we certainly understand the frustration by fans on all sides of the discussion, we have decided to keep the Broncos Country message boards separate from politics. Recent events have brought the NFL to the forefront of political debates, but due to the highly emotional and passionate discussion it tends to involve, we think it’s best to continue to keep politics and this forum separate. Yes, the forum is meant for discussion, but we’d like to keep that discussion to football as much as possible.
With everything going on in our country, it would be nice to keep our complaints and cheers purely related to football here. If you feel passionately, there are plenty of other outlets available to you to express your opinions. We know this isn’t the most popular decision, but we ask that you respect it.
Thank you for understanding.

Want to know why? He sang it like he felt it in his heart, and not just to promote himself as an opener at a football game! You can always tell when it's being sung from one's heart!
"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.

Agree HW - Definitely he sang it like he felt it in his heart. He did not have to promote himself, and he never did that. Did you listen to the song? Gave me chills!!!!!!

Yes...I did listen. Same here. The only thing I don't like about Elvis is nothing of his own doing....all the after-death gimics and cheap marketing of him. I went to his last concert in Omaha, NE when I was 14 years old. He didn't look so good at that time, so I prefer to remember him in the 60's....he was just a natural, everything about him. I think all that cheap marketing that's out there today will never give newer generations the right picture of him. What do you think?

You are absolutely correct. The cheap marketing of him in no way exhibits what a great person he was. I ordered two VHS titled "He Touched Me" - The Gospel music of Elvis Presley. These two VHS not only show him singing, but also tells things I never knew as to how he helped alot of poor people, and never wanted anyone to know at the time.

I was listening to this song as I opened this thread...freaky
I could listen to him all day. And one of my favorites is "If I Can Dream". I love it. And every time I hear it, I remember my youngest son, when he was small, walking around the tv, where the record player was on, singing the song as he walked.

Cafeful Denver, some folks on this board may not know what a record-player even looks like! I kind of miss the old LP's myself, but I don't miss the scratches or trying to keep them from warping. That's a sweet story about your son singing when he was a wee-bopper. I was babysitting the day he died, and I remember how the whole day changed dramatically and that's all anyone talked about in my family.

I am a younger guy who has a turntable.
Mostly because I cannot get some of my old stuff on CD.

Definitely a sad day when he died. You are right HW - many do not know what a record player looks like. Have you heard "If I Can Dream"?

My daughter is crazy about Elvis and he died way before she was born....she has alot of Elvis stuff in her room and her boyfriend buys her alot of Elvis stuff...
We took her to Graceland about 4 years ago....it was pretty cool....I liked the kitchen..and I bought a book about his life.
One thing I thought was very decent of him was that he did a concert that raised enough money to finish a WWII memorial that was started and wasn't finished due to lack of funds...
I think that Elvis was really good looking when he was a young man.At Graceland they had all his jumpsuits on display but I thought he looked really good wearing this....
I would love to visit Graceland someday, SIRIUS radio has an all Elvis station which I like listening to from time to time.
Kind of mesmerizing to listen to and dream of the past.
