  • This just really bugs me!

Im pretty sure you've herd this question all over the place but.. why is It that us young folks still can't gamble or have a drink leagally until the age of 21?

But wheir not to young enough to get shipped to Iraq?

To me it's just not right! You may disagree with me but thats your opinion.

I have always felt that what the age is is immaterial.

BUT IT SHOULD BE THE SAME! I don't care if you lower everything to 18 or raise everything to 21, but it should consistent across the board. How can you be an adult legally in one respect, but a minor legally in another respect?

    That makes no sense.

Logic is not one of the pillars our legal system is founded on.

Everybody's gotta elevate from the norm...

Couldnt agree with X-factor more. How bout the Gov't amend the law. Allowing all men, and women who serve, and have proper Military I.D. the same privileges as the 21 year old adult.
        Makes sense to me.

Exactly! It's just that Uncle Sam has been hounding me as of late. And that question has been on my mind for awhile. I just wanted to get It off my chest.

That's why Im asking you all what you think about it.

I say screw that. If you can vote, and you can serve, you can drink. If they have such a problem with it, then raise the voting age.

I think the world of the miltary men and women. But giving them special priveleges would be harder to do than just making a univerally recognized "adult" age.....I personally vote for 20. If your are a "teenager" then too bad.

LOL no, no test as such, but if you're over 16 and sleep with an under 16 that breaks some law, it's like the legal age of consent. In America do you just get to screw whatever age you are? That would seem wrong to me 13yr old mothers, just aint right

Ah.............the statutaory rape law. I see now. Ok. YEs, we do have that, and it is different from state to state, and in some states, the age difference is also a factor.

True - which doesnt make sense either - one state you can sleep with a sixteen year old and in another its illegal

I hear in Arkansas as long as your related it doesnt matter the age

Oh and on the topic - this country makes laws that our convienent to the people who are in power at that particular moment and/or ones that will generate the most "income" It has nothing at all to do with our well-being or security

I was allowed to become a mother before I could legally drink, smoke, or vote - and not in my case but in some even drive.

If a person goes somewhere and puts their life on the line for a country they ought to have every privilege that country has to offer.

And my point is that we should make the age where we are military eligible the same age as everything else. Lets just pick one and vote on it. I don't care which. But it should all be one age. I vote for age 20, since I think too many people would poo poo lowering the drinking age.
