  • New, Non-Lethal Military Weapon - Active Denial System

MOODY AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. — The military calls its new weapon an "active denial system," but that's an understatement. It's a ray gun that shoots a beam that makes people feel as if they are about to catch fire.

Apart from causing that terrifying sensation, the technology is supposed to be harmless — a non-lethal way to get enemies to drop their weapons.
    The News Bizarre
The military demonstrated a new non-lethal ray gun today at Moody Air Force Base, Ga. The beam makes people feel as if they are about to catch fire. Officials said the weapon could be used to increase the security of U.S. forces in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Wonder how that idea came up.

Okay guys, brainstorm some new weapons...

"Let's make a gun that makes people feel like they catch on fire! But nothing else happens!"

          Sounds painful.

It reminds me of something that George Carlin once said:

And what this indicates to me, it means that at some point, some person said to himself, "Gee, I sure would like to set those people on fire over there. But I'm way to far away to get the job done. If only I had something that would throw flame on them." Well, it might have ended right there, but he mentioned it to his friend. His friend who was good with tools. And about a month later, he was back. "Hey, quite a concept!" WHHOOOOOOOOSSHHH! And of course the army heard about it, and they came around. "We'd like to buy about five hundred-thousand of them please. We have some people we'd like to throw flame on. Give us five hundred thousand and paint them dark brown. We don't want anyone to see them."

I wonder if the mental anguish could kill someone if they were being shot by the ray long enough.

Well, THEN the weapon would be called LETHAL, correct?

Ha ha. I don't know....look at the mental anguish we experience right here on this board sometimes and we've managed to stay alive.
