Yesterday a group of us went skiing at Sierra Nevada, here in Spain.
Sierra is the world's highest ski resort, around 3000 m high! You do notice the altitude, especially at the end of the day!
WE left Gibraltar at 6 am, and got to SN at 10. Ski passes and straight to hire gear.
My friend and I were skiing, cos we knew how, and didn't feel like spending the day trying to learn boarding.
I had insane boot issues(mainly too tight at the top), but finally got sorted and off we went.
I had 2 falls.
#1: Very steep part of the run(avoided for the rest of the day)
#2: ON the chairlift with my mate and 2 guys, and one of them went over my skiis at the top, and caused me to wipe out. My knee hit the edge of my other ski, and I thought I sliced my knee open(I didn't, just a graze).
All in all, pretty good, given it's been 10 years since my last skiing adventure.
Today I have some nice new bruises, and am a bit stiff and sore, but I can move, which, given my level of fitness, is beter than I thought I'd do!
Pics to follow, and I'll put some stuff on youtube too!
edit: I almost forgot. Whilst having lunch with some friends, I met a cute American guy, Rob, from Boston. Yes he was a Pats fan, but he was pleasant, and very impressed by my sporting knowledge. I did say it was probably a good thing I wasn't wearing my Broncos cap!
So, Kap meets a Pats fan on a mountain in Spain!
