I think it is really sad that no one missed him!!! Even if they thought he had gone to a long term facility...he must not have had any family or friends...
That makes me wanna eat a banana split...

NEW YORK (Reuters) -- Police called to a Long Island man's house discovered the mummified remains of the resident, dead for more than a year, sitting in front of a blaring television set.
The 70-year-old Hampton Bays, New York, resident, identified as Vincenzo Ricardo, appeared to have died of natural causes. Police said on Saturday his body was discovered on Thursday when they went to the house to investigate a report of a burst water pipe.
"You could see his face. He still had hair on his head," Newsday quoted morgue assistant Jeff Bacchus as saying. The home's low humidity had preserved the body.
Officials could not explain why the electricity had not been turned off, considering Ricardo had not been heard from since December 2005.
Neighbors said when they had not seen Ricardo, who was diabetic and had been blind for years, they assumed he was in the hospital or a long-term care facility.
Dead for a year??I wondered too why the electricity was still on if he hadn't paid the bill.
And the fact he was blind sitting in front of a TV made me giggle a little bit.:usa: *** God Bless Our Military Men And Women*** :usa:

How sad that no one noticed, obviously no family was checking in on him.
And what's this with his electricity? Could any poor people be that fortunate not to have their electricity turned off within a couple months of not paying up? Honestly, that in itself is a fluke!
I'm sorry he died all alone."War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.

It sounds to me like the neighbors assumed that "someone" else would be taking care of it. A sad case of negligenceRest in Peace, Darrent and Damien. You will be forever in our thoughtsComment
