  • The Best Welfare Joke Ever!

BEST WELFARE JOKE OF THE YEAR:

A guy walks into the local welfare office, marches

    straight up to the

counter and says, "Hi... You know, I just HATE drawing

    welfare checks.

    I'd really

    rather have a job."

The social worker behind the counter says, "Your timing is

    excellent.

We just got a job opening from a very wealthy old man who

    wants a

    chauffeur

and bodyguard for his beautiful nymphomaniac daughter.

You'll have to drive around in his Mercedes, but he'll

    supply all of your

    clothes.

Because of the long hours, meals will be provided.

You'll be expected to escort her on her overseas holiday

    trips.

You will have to satisfy her sexual urges.

You'll be provided a two-bedroom apartment above the

    garage. The starting

    salary is $90,000 a year."

    The guy, wide-eyed, says , "You're Bull****tin' m!"

The Social Worker says, "Yeah, well... You started it."

FYI, my family was on welfare between 1980-1981, when my dad finished his degree that he cut short by going to Vietnam, and was unable to get full time work to support the family. He was bagging groceries and working a Sears catalog desk part time, but the economy sucked, and as a 35 year old college graduate he was 'overqualified' for many of the jobs he applied for.

So, yes, many people on welfare find it degrading, shameful, and cannot wait to find a job.

My dad has since been at his current job for 26 years.

So, I'd say this joke is not only unfunny, it has no basis in fact.

Everybody's gotta elevate from the norm...

The greatest list of music I don't own on CD

No one is making fun of anyone on welfare. It's a joke about a ficticious person. I'm sure the thread starter meant no disrespect.

And FYI, my mother was on welfare from 1992-1995....

Boo Hoo my family used the welfare system as well, and you know just as well as I do that there are people in this world, many many people in fact that get welfare because they are to lazy to get a freaking job!

The welfare system was designed for folks who need it and it is a great program to help those who are willing to help themselves like my family or your father but face it that's not the case sometimes and this joke is used to poke fun at those who who use it as a source of free money, money that comes out of my pocket just as well as yours.

Sorry your sense of humor is broken.

At least it wasn't about disability...

But I see the point and the humor and know several people that do abuse the system!!!

I never said that there wasn't abuse or that their weren't lazy people. Of course there are.

I just don't think it is unbelievable that someone on welfare would say somthing along the lines of what that character said in the joke. Since it is not unbelievable, the punchline fails to be humourous.

I find many things funny. Assuming that stereotypes are true for all people, or mocking those who are economically or physically disadvantaged in compariosn to myself is not one of those things.

If it had been truly offensive, I would have deleted it.

I am merely sharing my opinion, not saying that everyone has to agree with it.

However I think that is where you missed the whole point of the joke..of course it's not true that someone would walk in and say such things THAT is what makes it funny.
