  • 19 year old to Graduate college after 1 year

A 19-year-old suburban-Detroit resident is on track to graduate from The University of Michigan after just a year of study.

Nicole Matisse, of Bloomfield Hills, is to officially graduate in the summer with a bachelor's degree in psychology.

I thought this was pretty cool I wish I was this smart

If she was smart, she would realize she has the rest of her life to work and she should enjoy being a young woman. 1 year in college isn't a very good experience. Why, I bet she only had about 300 Jello shots. Wait.....good for her!

That's great for her, but I would hate to be in her shoes. Missing out on college fun and going to work so young. Sucks for her.

Hate to say this but she is a NERD... no offense.

i'm pretty sure that someone who graduates college after a year's jello shots are made with water... and chased with a multivitamin and a full night's rest.

If it only took her 1 year to get a bachelor's degree than she will probably stay and get a masters too.

That's pretty awesome and she's not done yet either. She'll be going to law school next. People like this are on a different level. It's like athletes.

Quick study! Teen to graduate college after year
Now plucky Michigan 19-year-old is heading to law school

BLOOMFIELD HILLS, Mich. — A 19-year-old suburban-Detroit resident is on track to graduate from The University of Michigan after just a year of study.

Nicole Matisse, of Bloomfield Hills, is to officially graduate in the summer with a bachelor's degree in psychology.

As a student at Lahser High School, Matisse had exhausted the curriculum by her junior year. Between the exams she passed on eight advanced placement courses and the eight classes she took at Oakland Community College, she had amassed enough credits to enter the university last fall as a junior.

"When I got to U-M, I only took 19 credits, and I was bored and craved more credits," she told The Detroit News for a Wednesday story. "So even when I took 27 credits this semester, I felt I could have added even more."

                    'Determined young lady'
It's unclear whether any other students have done what Matisse will accomplish this year, but Donna Wessel Walker, assistant director of the honors program, said she's never seen it happen.

"She's taking in one semester the course load that most people take in two," Wessel Walker said. "She is one determined young lady."

Matisse's next step is to start as a first-year student at the Wayne State University law school in Detroit.

Well at least she gets to retire early.

Doing the whole party thing in college is not recomended in large amounts, most cases you fail and have to repeat the class over, which costs $$$

Could not agree with you anymore, when you are done and making money then you can really party and enjoy life. I am in my 3rd year of college and should be out in another 4 or 5

But you need to have some fun in college or else you will end up jumping off a bridge.

College can be fun, I guess.

But for those of us who had to work through college, being done at 19 and earning real money sounds great. Less debt too, if she had to do loans or whatever. But I am guessing if she is that bright, she probably got a scholarship.

But yeah, if you go all 4 years, and have no money or employment issues, then I could see how it would be more appealing to stay all 4 years.

Personally, I think it's a hell of an acheivement.
