  • Albino Alligator!

This white alligator has it made in the shade. Without an alligator's normal dark camouflaging color, the new inhabitant at the Knoxville Zoo would not live long while exposed to predators or the sun.
In an exhibit made to look like the Louisiana bayou with tree stumps and hanging moss, the 12-year-old American alligator spent one recent afternoon basking under a heat lamp beside a warm pool with one claw lazily dipped in the water. If outside, her skin would burn in the sun.
An albino gene makes the alligator's skin white and her eyes pinkish, and the rare find creates a popular exhibit at zoos around the country.

they had an exhibit here in denver about 10 years ago, i went and saw it, it was pretty cool, funny story actually happened with that..

the albino was in his little room in the pond, and there were some other animals in there too, i think some birds, some lizards and some monkeys.

anyway, one of the monkeys droppped something into the water or went to get a drink i dont know, but the aligator snapped at him, so the monkey all casual and cool like climbs this little tree right above the aligator and starts taking a dump on him.

i was about 11 or so, and could not stop laughing.

ps, i also found $5 that day at the zoo.
        So far:
        FA- Melvin Gordon. Brandon Scherff
        1. Kenneth Murray LB; 2. Shenault WR; 2B. Biadazz Center, 3. OT

whoa, that is freakin' cool. . . . although i'm not sure what they mean by saying she wouldn't live long "if exposed to predators or the sun". . . the sun part makes sense, but what the hell preys on alligators in north america??

          oh wait, here's the answer. . .
